Buying Polk in Canada - And RTIA9 VS A7

I am new to this site but have always come here for information, so I will start by saying thanks to everyone in advance :)

My Dilemma is Future shop.... They only carry the RTIA9's as “Web only” purchases and only in Cherry Finish, But the rest of my Polk’s are Black. Also Future shop’s price is $999.99/speaker, and has not come on sale in the past year (I have been watching weekly); however, the RTIa7's come on sale regularly and I believe I can get 4 RTiA7's for the price of 2 RTiA9's, and could hook them up as Front A&B (2 Left Channel and 2 Right Channel) to my Yamaha RXV2500... would anyone recommend doing this over the RTiA9's? And if not does anyone know where I can get a good deal on the A9's. I live in Ontario Canada, between Kingston and Toronto,

Additional information = The bass from the A9's is not a huge deal, I have a 10"polk sub and the DLS5000 Veloydine 15inch 1000W Sub...

Also with the 4 RTia7's I could also look at getting another amp to push them and use the Yamy for Surround only...

Well let me know what you think :)

Thanks,

Kyle

As a fellow Canadian buyer I had the same problem - Crutchfield Canada sells them a little cheaper then FS and has the occasional sale. There's also a place called Gibby's Audio online that sells them in black and seems to have more frequent sales.

I bought my RTI A9's from Gibbys in St. Catherines... $1299/pair over the Christmas season, Im sure you can find a much better price than what you see at FS.... I would wait and check Gibby's regularly for a sale

You can try Visions at http://www.visions.ca
+1, exactly what I wanted to propose. If you already auditioned the gear you want, visions is a good place for deals if you are patient. I live in Quebec and bought from them online in the past for my upgrade. Delivery is double boxed and delivered in a timely fashion. My only beef was that I couldn't see them on the Polk site as authorized dealers but they referred me to our Canadian rep for confirmation. I had the opportunity to visit a couple of their store while on a business trip and they don't have anything to envy to FS or BB. To my surprise, I have also noticed some Lsi which seems to be somewhat hard to get in Canada. Welcome to CP and good luck on your quest.

    Cheers!

The visions here skips the rti line. They have the Monitor line as well as the Lsi line. That is where I bought my Lsi15's before.

    Good luck,

Well thats the problem... The A7's are easier for me get a deal on... but I love the Power and Bass that the A9's can provide... and I took some advice a while back that has served me well... "1 good pair of speakers will often out performs multiple pairs"... I was just wondering if anyone had tried a set up of ... say... 4 A7's... ?

I will check out those sites, thanks for the info! ... I used to use a site called e-tronics in New York... they were great (shipping to Canada)... until they started to get over priced.

non the less thanks again everyone! :)

I got my a9's from FS and picked them up in store, had them special delivered. I didn't pay MSRP as i got them as part of a complete setup but there is room to move on them that's for shure ;)

The a9's are a better speaker overall as compared to the a7's

All my Polk's are black :D
