Connecting Amp to AVR

Hello,

Sorry if this has been asked before but I could not find this in a search. I have an Onkyo TX-SR674 AVR. I would like to get an adcom 555 amp. On the back of my AVR I see a pre-out for the sub but thats it. How do I connect the amp to the AVR? Do I need to get a pre-amp and connect the AVR to the pre-amp then to the 555 amp? Thanks for any input.

The 674 does not have pre-outs beside a sub-out..right?

Therefore you cannot run the Adcom off of it.

You need an AvR with a full set of pre-outs to run the 2 channel 555.

Or you can buy a Pre-amp for Two channel only.

For Onkyos pre-outs start at with the 700 series!

Sorry about that! But you can get some cheap pres..

What I would suggest is that you sell the 674 and buy a refurbed 706?

So I cant tie the preamp into my current AVR somehow and make it all work? That is correct all I see is the sub out. If I cant get this to work somehow then it looks like I will have to get a 700 series AVR.

Sorry about the bad news..on the positive side...I run an Onkyo 805 with that Adcom for the M70s sometimes and they sound fabulous!!

It's worth the investment....you can check Onkyo's own site or www.accessories4less.com

for a good Onkyo refurb. If you get a good price on the 674 you might make out fine.

I would also consider the refurb Marantz 5004 (pretty sure that has pre-outs as well..but check their site).
