Hello,
Took the road to upgrade fever over before xmas I am happily pleased with the prices I paid direct from Polk. I got rid of the Boston Acoustics cr67 f/r, vrc center, cr67 rear, and crc7rears for Polk. They were making me punch drunk. I picked up the RTI8's, csia3 center, rti4's and fxi6's (in white-need painted as part of "the deal"). All sound better no doubt. More presence and clarity in my 18 x 30 ish room. Matched to a Velodyne dps-10 and powered by a Pioneer 1017vsx. The speakers seemed like they have more to give me as my receiver seems weak. Tried Bi-amping and liked the results, they were measurable but not like upgrading the speakers. But I do not want to give up the 7.1. So I saw the pre outs-hit this site a few more times (been lurking for two months now) and bought a Sony TA-N9000es. Decent deal at 350.00, reputable, seemed as if it has the features I need/want.
But a fool and his money soon part...
Am I going to enjoy the results and how the heck do I do this???

WELCOME TO CLUB POLK, ERIK!
You've got the right idea....here's an internal shot and review of the 5 channel power amp....http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/receivers/sonys-ta-e9000es-v-str-da4es/chassis
I'm not sure what the Sony is rated but it's got to have a lot more power than the Pio 1017,,,you were right to notice the pre-outs and lucky your AVR has them.
All you need to do is get some good RCA interconnects and run each of the 5 channels out from the Sony into the matching pre-out on the Pioneer....R-R, L-L, C-C, SL-SL, and SR-SR.
You then wire your speakers DIRECTLY to the SONY because it will now power the speakers and the Pioneer will be your pre-amp..that will process the surround formats and raise and lower the volume.
I'd say you did the right thing.
Enjoy.

Thanks for the welcome and input....I really want to keep 7.1 and there seem to be alot of choices in regards to the amps input settings-5.1, bridge f/r, bridge f/r +center, 2ch only ect.. Would I be safe in using the bridge f/r + center from the amp and running the rears from the avr. I am definately looking forward to testing this out -I am just unsure as I have never had more than an AVR before. Cant wait for some free time....any input is appreciated. THX55 Samsung 7100
