Just walked in the door and set up my new booty. I got a Pioneer SX-980 in absolute mint condition (with box and original manual, works perfectly) and some LS70s in the light wood finish all for the low price of 80 dollars!!

I must say these are the best speakers I have ever owned. Anything i need to know about them????

Yep this was a Salvation Army. The guy that was working in the back says he sees stuff like this all the time donated.

    Great find.

Don't you love the way your heart pumps just a little bit faster as your spot the deal, see the price, and then the act of paying for it at the register it pumps a little faster still. then you load it up kind of in an elevated state of bliss. Then you calm down as you drive home and then the excitement starts all over again as you hook it up to test it out. Then when it works fine, you just say to yourself , WOW that was awsome...I'll have to go tomorrow and see what else I can find.
I've been going through this scenario for 10 yrs. I love the high.

Ask Nooshinjohn how he felt buying that Sansui gear.:D

    I might have soiled myself.:o

Exactly how I felt when I got my SDA-1's for $80. Felt like a giddy little 12 year old kid again.

Wow...if I found SDA's for that price I'd feel giddy, too. Haven't been quite that lucky, although my entire 2 channel system has been bargain-bought.

You guys with these crazy thrift store finds are driving me crazy...all I ever see is a broken down Emerson Am/Fm/cd/cassette player with super cheapo 5 inch FULL RANGE speakers that sounds like crap and whose CDP does not work or whose tape deck is missing its door?

Where are you guys located? Santa Monica? Beverley Hills?

Enjoy the towers..there worth much more than that.

Yeah, and if you ever do find tower speakers at a thrift store, they're always Sony's....and I hate Sony speakers lol

I live in an area where alot of people moved to over the last 15 years. Alot of them were retirees that were downsizing I bet.

Now it's slim pickins too. Big piles of 20" TVs and Sony speakers too.:(

Now I go for artwork mostly but always hope to find the Blue guys.(Macintosh). Carver amps would be an amazing find for me too.:D
