Blah just my little rant. 13 hour days suck sooo bad and I'm doing that all this week. 7am-8pm. Seriously and being salary sucks major as well seeing I don't get OT for any of it....blah...

I enjoy my job but not when I'm at the point of going nuts doing everything. Blah oh well back to work I go. Maybe some day I can be like my manager and leave every day early and come in whenever I want.....

Not my first time doing this but just was annoyed to the point I wanted to say something about it. Seeing I do normally 45-55 hour weeks. blah

I feel for you Bro. When I was working, salary, a 60 hour week was normal. It sucked the life out of me.

BTW be happy you are able to work. There is nothing worse than wanting to work but not able to.

Been down that "salary" road before. 70-80 hour weeks constantly. While being salary has it's benefits, some employers take advantage. Now that we are in a bad economy, they take advantage even more. Now my attitude is f$%k you, pay me. Hourly keeps eveyone honest in my humble opinion. Well, somewhat honest anyway.

Hey, I worked 48 + hours per week getting a salary and in the end it was worth it. Retired and got a nice pension from the company.

oh trust me I am very happy that I have a job and I know I'm lucky that I do. I work in an industry that I do see unfortunate things, so I'm thankful that I have what I have.
Its just annoying the whole salary thing. Its like you get paid well if you work a 40 hour week, but these 12 hour or more days are killing me. I really do like my job but it gets overwhelming when you get the least amount of vacation and the largest amount of work. I just wish I could really go back to being hourly and getting OT, but seeing I'm considered a sort of "supervisor" I get bumped up to salary. (I don't consider myself one, but I do have people that I delegate work to and tell them to do things, ect, and they come to me before my sup who's the manager so I guess I'm one sorta?)

While it's really hard to find a job that makes you happy, be thankful you have what you have. From '84 to to '96 I had what most called a cushy job and I never worked more then 40 hours a week. But they were absolutely miserable hours as I reported directly to both the VP and President who were total unethical turds.

I left and started my own business in 1996 and worked lots and lots of 100+ hour weeks for over 3 years getting the business launched, and that was pretty miserable too.

By 2000 things were smooth and I had people in place to free me to do whatever I wanted to do, or nothing at all. This was nirvana. I still chose to work from 10 to 14 hours a day M-F, but I was doing exactly what I wanted to do if and when I wanted to do it.

Now the economy is such that I could work 40 hours or 130 hours a week and I don't think it would make much of a difference to the bottom line.

My take on it now is that if you have a job, be thankful for whatever hours you have to put in.

Oh I know. What something even better work a temporary full time job. I guess seeing its a temporary job then screw you out of OT. For example:

I worked at Noah's Ark America's largest waterpark here in WI. I was a lifeguard and also did the cleaning of pools and other stuff throughout the summer. I was on a 6 days on 1 off rotating. I would normally work 55-70+ hour weeks as you would punch in at 6:30AM and punch out at 9AM or later. No lunch breaks really, just how fast you can make it to the guard room on your rotation, if you were lucky you could get a full 30 mins but if people were slow you would get like oh say 15. or even 10 sometimes. You did this about 2-4 times. 2 if there were really long rotations, 4 if you were lucky and got a short one.

With all that aside, you didn't get OT, why? because you were considered full time temporary employee as it was for the summer months only you could do it. Sucked ballz sometimes because you work your **** off and then no OT, still got a good amount of money and the perks of see hot girls all day didn't get old.

I almost think salary is worse seeing you just plain don't get OT. I would rather be working a bunch and get the hourly pay but nothing I can do about it.

And dont' get me wrong I LOVED working as a lifeguard, very easy to do and fun for the most part, besides cleaning out certain "things" people leave behind...and yeahhhhh, not always the greatest gifts to be had.

Like I said before, I am thankful I do have one, trust me. With what I do now I see a lot of negative things all day long. I love my job, it was just my rant that I get stuck here working super late hours, while my bosses can go home at 4:30 every day while I'm stuck here until you know 8 and probably even 11 tonight doing work but be paid for a 40 hour day. To me it gets a little unfair when you are just starting out but I know the name of the game and thats how it is, I was just venting a bit about it.

I really do love my job and like my sups, it just sucks being a work horse sometimes and I think most people can relate to it as we all get stuck with work beyond what is normally possible in a 40 hour work week. Honestly what I'm doing now would normally take me a month to do, but have to do it in 4 days and was just notified monday to do it. and right now its back to work I go.

The OT isn't as good as you would think...

If i could, i'd show you a copy of my last paystub. Long story short, i grossed a touch over $1600, and took home a touch under $700 after taxes and deductions.
