I have purchased the Tsi500, CS20, and Tsi200 for my 5.1 set up (expecting to arrive this Thursday).

I have been bidding on some DSW600 on Ebay Polk Audio Direct, but have had no such luck winning any of the bids.

The question I have is on Newegg, I saw a deal for the PSW505 12" for $249.00 plus free shipping. I Had been bidding around $400.00 for the refurbished DSW600.

Is buying the PSW505 sub worth the $200.00 in savings? Will I be missing anything if I went with this sub? This is my first full on HT (always had HTIB), so I don't think I have a trained ear.

Please let me know. I would like to try and get a sub ASAP, so i can really complete my system.

Thanks for any advice or comments.

Mike

I have a 505 with my setup, which is similar to yours b/c the monitors are essentially the older model to the TSI's though your fronts and center are one grade up from mine. I mostly like the 505, but I find that if i want good rumbling for HT I have to put the volume on it closer to 3/4 way instead of half way, like most people suggest.. however half way on most 2channel applications is great.. I think its fairly musical and really enjoy hearing the lower level of electric and string bass that it produces. that being said I've heard that the DSW series Subs are a lot better than the PSW and it migth be worth the extra few bucks. You also might want to consider the Micropro 1000 that are on polkdirect from time to time too, I know quite a few people on here really like it.

I have been looking at the Micropro 1000, but didn't know how much the 8" would compare to the 12". Like I stated before, i am pretty new to audio and home theater, but I do try to read as many comments, reviews, etc. as I can.

Can you explain the difference in power (1200 compared to 200) between the DSW600 and Micropro 1000? Will the 8" be ample enough for a 16x17 room open to the kitchen?

The Micro Pro 1000 will probably knock your windows out of that small room if you don't board them up before using.

Does anybody know anything about Newegg? Are all the items they sale on there new? They have the DSW Micropro 1000 for $349 + Free Shipping. Would this be a new sub?

the DSW pro 600 goes lower than the 505, this is an important fact, however from power perspective they are similar, i prefer a sub that can go lower anyday over power.

Wise choice, the DSW is a better all around sub from what I have heard, due to it's musicality. Although the 505 is no slouch either, both would have made for a wise choice. Let us know how it does for you.

Good choice, the DSW will actually outdo the micropro 1000 for HT...but the 1000 is a bit tighter for music...however the 600 is NO slouch there either.

It's the PERFECT match for TSIs..

    Enjoy!
