I have a Psw10 in a small room. It's got big boom, but the bass is not very tight, especially cause it's in a corner, honestly it's the only place i can put it i've tried. Anybody have experience with a similar situation, what settings should i use on the sub / receiver ? Anything else i can do to decrease boomyness

I don't think it's a settings issue, I think it has more to do with the placement of the sub.polkaudio RT35 Bookshelves

Don't drive it over 12 o-clock volume on the sub volume dial....Try to reduce its volume from you AVR as well.
I used to have a PSW12 that had a lot of port noise as well...similar design bigger. I found the solution to be facing the port toward the Right side of the room at a right angle from the listening position. With the port not facing the listening position it was very difficult to hear any of the port noise...and that did the trick for me....but that meant bringing the sub out about 2.5 to 3 feet from the Left corner and facing it cross wise_-Parallel to the TV.
Different rooms have different acoustical properties so I don't know if that will work for you. Sub placement often recommends that you put the sub in your listening position and walk around that room listening for the best quality bass. When you find that position--that's where you should put your sub.

Does changing the equalizer on the A/V receiver to increase the bass mean i should set the sub volume even lower ?TV- Samsung 24" LCD T240HD

Yeah set the bass volume lower and don't mess with the equalizer--that won't do much. Most equalizers only have one Low frequency adjustment if you have your sub set, to let's say 80hz or lower?
The point is that you don't want to overdrive the PSW10 which is pretty easy to do.

So i should set the equalizer back to neutral cause i still feel i need that for more bass, i just don't want boomy bass. My subs crossover is set to 180 or whatever the highest is so that the AVR controls the crossover, it's hooked up to the sub with one audio cord the red one i believe.TV- Samsung 24" LCD T240HD
