Noob question on bi-amp and subwoofer
Hi,
I just got a series of speakers (Monitor 70s, CS2, Monitors 30s, and a PSW110 sub) and a Onyko TX-SR 707 receiver. I am wondering if I should set up the Monitor 70s in the front channels to bi-amp? Would this cause lowend frequencies that would normally go to the sub to be directed to the 70s?
Sorry for the noob questions. It has been 12 years since I bought a HT sound system.

Welcome to Club Polk, and excellent choice for your speakers. I have pretty much the same one, but with a PSW125 for my sub, and an Onkyo TX-SR806 for my AVR. IMHO, don't bother with the Bi-Amp feature, it isn't worth the cost of the extra speaker wire, and simply changing the settings on your Onk to "Bi-Amp" won't do anything. That 707 has pre-outs for adding an external amp, so if you want more power look into an amp. Look into Adcom, Sunfire, Rotel, and Emotiva to name a few. 200+ watts is a good place to start. The 70's are a very easy speaker to drive and I'm sure the 707 can handle it with ease, but they will come to life with an external amp. Check Ebay, CL and the For Sale section here too as well. Hope this helps and welcome to Club Polk.
