Cold Weather Blues vs. Favorite Temperate Spots

It's in the teens here today and we have more than a a foot of snow that's accumulated since it thawed to bare ground back on Christmas day. Shoveling snow and clearing/scraping the cars is a multi time a day event. The furnace is on as much as it is off.

I've always loved winter here in northeastern Ohio, especially when skiing was my primary hobby. I can still keep up with my teenage son in the bumps and off of the jumps (for about an hour), but after that first hour I'm shot and off to the lodge while he skis with his buddies. If I ski like a normal 50+ year old, I can stretch it to a few hours, but I've realized that without the strong draw of skiing, winter pretty much just sucks!

We used to vacation frequently in Hawaii when times were good and I've always said that's where I want to live. I want to be mosquito free and pretty much able to be outside and comfortable in a tee or light shirt every day.

Share your favorite spots to retire in a TEMPERATE CLIMATE (and explain why). :)

Seldotna AK is where I am retiring to. Gobal warming might actually be real by the time I retire.

Up the coast from L.A.(Malibu, Thousand Oaks, Oxnard), good weather most of the time, lots of beautiful mexican women, and great mexican food. This wont happen until im in my 70's(if I make it).
Most of them only hear how loud it sounds, and the rest of us hear everything else -

I'm in my retirement spot, Huntington Beach, California. The weather just doesn't get any better and nor do the beach babe's.
