New Subwoofer Set Up Help Please

So I got a new Polk PSW110 for my surround sound in my room. Its a pretty big room and it sounds GREAT with movies! Really deep and loud, almost room shaking. But for music, it is significantly less so, just a little bass, any ideas on how to get more wall shaking bass from music, keep in mind that I have a receiver hooked up with the sub, a CS10 center channel, and 4 Polk T-15 bookshelf speakers. I have been playing music off of my PS3 and 360, mp3 format, have not tried a CD yet, didnt think that would really make a difference since the mp3s came from the CDs. Any opinions?

That is way too complicated for me, haha. Like I said it sounds perfect, really loud, crisp bass with movies, but very quiet with music.

A LOT of music doesn't contain the low bass that movies have. What do you have the crossover cutoff/slope set at?

Well Im 99% sure its set to 80hz, I was messing with that to see if it would help with the music, but there really wasnt a difference. I just wanna rock out to some metallica and have a little thump behind it!

Upgrade your sub then, lol. Seriously though, the 110 is a good sub, but it sounds like you want more than it can do. The DSW series is a better movie/music sub and will probably be more to your liking. Just my $.02, and welcome to Club Polk.

Most processors are set up to give 10 dB increase in LFE for movies. Music has no such bump. That's why it sounds lower.

    Hi there,

You may want to check your receiver settings. When playing music, your receiver may just process the two channel (L and R). Thus your subs are bypassed. My particular receiver (Denon) requires LFE + Main as the setting so bass is sent to the subs (below the crossover setting) when playing CDs.
