Maybe shipping issues, open boxes, etc etc etc... i haven't heard ONE bad thing about anything bought through their auctions yet, so i wouldn't worry about it. Most people can't even find a single flaw, it's just like buying new.
I don't read the newsssspaperssss because dey aaaallllllllll...... have ugly print.

Yep. If i were in the market for new Polk gear, i'd just go through there. I'd love me some RTiA9s or RTi12s.

I've made several purchases from Polk Direct on e-bay, and I'm 110% satisfied....everything I bought was like new, I would buy from them again.

The only downside is having to pay sales tax :(

I bought all my stuff for polk besides my center's and the Mirco 1K from there. The only speaker that showed damage was my RTIA9's that had a ding in the front on a corner from what looked like it being just pushed to hard into something. They still work just fine and everything. Saving the money I did was worth it too. I would say they are a great place to get really good deals.

Also a lot of the stuff such as the monitors are older models that have been discontinued. Newegg and I think a few others have them as well, but thats why you'll see a lot on there of those models. They are just getting rid of the old stock that they still have left. Others can be just ones that customers found they didn't like and returned, ect. I have never had a problem with any of the things not working and they still have a warranty on them and Polk's Customer care is one of the best I think.

With the scale polk works on that isn't a lot of refurb stuff. Seeing polks sales quantities would be scary. It isn't some local company.

Would be nice if the auctions showed a picture of the actual item, though, looks as if most if not all are using stock photos. If there is an actual scratch or dent in the refurb item, it would be nice to see it and know it's there before comitting to the auction with the intent to purchase.

I understand it would be nice, but also very time consuming and a pain in the butt for them to do, also with the number of auctions they have I think it would almost be a waste of time as they would have to keep track of which one didn't sell, what pictures go with what inventory, ect ect. To me I know that it may have a flaw when I'm buying it and so thats fine that it is a stock photo.

I'm also betting a lot of this stuff is just overstock from places that have gone and are continually going out of business...since some members report that a lot of it looks brand new.

Plus remember with the demise of Tweeter and Circuit City...the two main venues for selling Monitors. TSIs and Rtis and LSis disappeared so Polk probably has extra stock they need to get moving?

Best Buy has picked up a bit of the slack but they're not exactly in the Black either? Doubt they're selling a lot of audio gear in this market?

and to be honest of all the best buys I've been to a lot are lacking any polks. The one by me which is a smaller store carries the TSI300 and thats about it. Others I've been too with the Magnolia sections I never saw ANY polks, only one set of Def techs, some martin logan set and something else.
kinda sad when I walk into a best buy and the kids working there think the TSI300 are the biggest they come and tell people that.

I bought a DSW 600 subwoofer thru e-bay/Polk. haven't been able to get the remote to control it yet. Tech sent new remote, not that. Then sent new circuit board, nothing. Put in new speaker, nope. Don't know whats left. Maybe the wire that goes to the eye in the box? My gut tells me someone purchased it new and it just didn't work and they returned it and it wasn't checked or tested just placed in refurb/e-bay.
I'll call a tech again tommorow and see what happens next. Hope they stay with me and get it resolved.

Largest I've seen at Best Buy for Polk is the TSi400. They sell the complete TSi and RTi series online. Fry's I believe carries a lot more.

Just FYI for you folks asking about pictures and when you contact Polk Direct, you're talking to Jessica. She's super nice and runs the eBay gig very well.

    Hello Mark,

I don’t know where to post the comment but if you can add it where it needs to go. Basically, Polk direct runs over 300 auctions every month and it is almost impossible and very time consuming to take pictures of every single item we sell. We stand back behind our products being in good or just “like new condition”. If the customer receives something that is not working or in really really bad shape we are willing to work with them.

You can also say they can always contact me through our ebay website.

    Hope this helps.

I ordered my RTiA7's from them. One was brand new, the other clearly was not. No major damage but some markings on top of the speaker, almost like a stain on the veneer. Also the spiked feet were missing from the box as was the documentation. (The box itself looked liked it had been squashed at both ends). On an upnote both speakers work great, so blemishes aside no real complaints here, just bear in mind not everything they sell is 'brand new'.

They don't claim to sell everything as brand new so that's on you to read the description thoroughly. Large loudspeakers are often the bane of shipping companies and not treated very well en route.

If you're missing feet and docs, a simple phone call or email folow up will help you wrap that up.

Everything I have ever received from PolkDirect has been flawless and several looked to never have even been opened.
