Not sure what I'm looking at...

Attached are a couple of charts measured from my main listening position using a Radio Shack SPL meter. I know the graphs show sound pressure level at the various frequencies listed but I don't know what they tell me (if anything) as far as calibration is concerned.

This is a 2.1 stereo system. Denon DRA-397, Denon DCM-390, Polk Monitor 70 (x2) and a PSW10.

I'm very new to this part of the hobby and any input would be greatly appreciated.

RS SPL meter is not acurrate after about 5Khz and with the freqs below that you need to make some adjustments.

Go over to hometheatershack.com and look at Room EQ Wizard. There is a lot to be learned there on calibration and measurements. REW is free and makes taking measurements much simplier. There is a learning curve but well worth it.

You are trying to do with calibration is get your frequencies as flat as possible, raising dips and clipping peaks. Dips are usually resolved with speaker placement and peaks cut with filters.

A Berringer mic with the shack calibration file will allow full range measurements. The RS spl meter is really best and cheapest for subwoofer freqs using shack calibration file.

Thanks for the information. I'll definitely check out the site.
