RTI A7s or A9s?

First - My new receiver is an Onkyo 807 @ 135wpc. Now it's time to upgrade speakers. I am still a year or so away from an external amp due to budget constraints.

While I know the power is marginal, it appears from reading previous posts that I will not be totally unhappy with A7 or A9 towers with current power?

If both are questionalble will I be less happy with the A9s for now?

I was able to find and listen to the A7s (@150wpc) and liked them but A9s are nowhere to be found!

On the technical side, the A9s are actually rated sightly higher in efficiency yet require more power?

I would go with the 9's. TO get the best out of either of them you will need an external amp, but both with will be OK with your onkyo for now. The 9's are the flagship speaker and if you have a chance to get them i would go for it.

Is this setup for more music or HT. The 9's win in both areas but was curious. Do you have a sub to go with them? Most people around here say it is between the 9's and the 5's with a good sub.

    welcome to the club.
    Front - RTiA5's
    Rear - RTiA3's
    Center - CSiA4
    Sub - PSW110

Set up is for both. While more time is spent as HT, I still place the priority of sound on music.
Yes I currently have and will continue to have a sub. Listening to A7s, I think that for music I will turn it off and when in HT turn it on.

Get the 9's. If you settle for the 7's you'll always be wondering what if. In this hobby, I find its always best to spend as much money as possible, that way you have no regrets except for an empty wallet. Really though, the 9's are the best RTi's you can buy, I should have gotten them myself, but I got the 5's instead. Im not dissapointed, but I think 9's are still in my future. Welcome to Club Polk.

Not really. Having owned the 12's and 9's, all of those who will say the 12's are bright......are absolutely correct when comparing them to the 9's. the 9's not only look better but sound more refined. get a9's from polk's refurb department and don't look back.
