I have a samsung phone I like it never had a problem with it.Also OP, I would get away from sprint and nextel just poor reception compared to "dare I say it" even at&t. I have been with verizon for over 6 years and love them. Just something to look into.

    Thanks, Jstas.

I have yet to figure out the problems with Sprint's coverage. I've managed to get decent signals in some of the remote areas around Tucson as well as everywhere in Atlanta, Panama City Beach, Phoenix, and San Diego. Didn't get any signal in South Africa, but I don't have a world or GSM compatible phone either.

When I was on Nextel, there was certainly some problems. In fact, that's why I got off Nextel. After a storm I went from 3/4 to ful signal most of the time at my house to no signal to 1/4 signal. 3 months later same situation so I swapped to Sprint to keep the family connections.

I have read online that there exceedingly large quantities of complaints regarding customer service, but not phone service.

wes, how much they gonna hit you up for on that samsung moment? you gotta sign a new contract? i was gonna sell my BNIB, never opened, ever, samsung moment on ebay or craigslist for the going rate of the $350 but sell to you for $300 local, if interested. then no contract signing necessary. eh, it's you, so $275. i have to recoup the mega amounts of money spent on my other 3 brand new lines for the family.

on the samsung moment, it's nice. my girlfriend and my oldest kid love theirs. only issue is that the battery meter THINKS the battery goes dead really quickly when using the internet supposedly there is a fix for this. take it to a store, but we've been too lazy to ourselves. they may even have a DIY fix for it by now.

if you don't have a data plan, you may want to just get into a samsung moment via new contract and get the phone cheaper. to use it to its full potential, you gotta have one of their higher end plans with data and all that jazz. lemme know.

I've been killing phones for almost 20 years and the Droid is the best one I've met so far aside from the Nokia 2190 of the old days. I also have an iTouch, yes not an iPhone but am blown away by the Android GUI so far. I'll never go back to a Blackberry. It's extra expensive and simply not worth it for me...that doesn't mean everyone, just my opinion.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I only have one thing to comment on, and it's not even the OP's point. That is, samsung phones.

I've had a SCH-A670, and am now running a Samsung Omnia. Both phones have been flawless from a hardware perspective. With the Omnia, I just have to put up with the WinMo BS. Which is really only exasperated by my use of the phone and loading some "alternative" (sorry Doro) ROMs on it. Bla Bla Bla... warranty void... etc.

I do get 12% off my plan thanks to work, tho!
    Ludicrous gibs!

Thanks for the offer Bill, but after the upgrade credit and mail-in-rebate they are gonna give me the phone for $100, same a as new line. I currently pay 49 a month and 450 minute Everything plan would only 60 a month after taxes and my discount. I guess I would have to decide if another 175 is worth not having a contract....hmmm.....

I've read about the battery issues. Downloading those apps to help manage other apps and functions is first on my list. Samsung also has a little tutorial thing on their website to help with battery life also. But don't most smartphones and such suck the battery down anyway when they are on the 'net, have WiFi going and GPS and Bluetooth and.....

Noel and Mark, it's nice to hear the great things about the phones and OS form trusted folks.

eh, if you're like me and plan to be with sprint awhile, just do the contract. that's what i just did. thing is, now i feel i have no more bargaining chip. so we'll see how their customer service handles my issues now...

I was thinking about switching when my parents contract runs out, but since I get to keep my discount for the 450 Everything plan, I'm gonna re-up most likely.
