hello my name is michael, and i have just bought the rti 12. I am looking for the best way to set them up. The few questions i have are as follows usein a yahama rxv 2700 I bi amp and ran them in 2 channel pcm, but as i got to the higher volums they started to distort. Is this the reciver because i have read that a lot of people don't like yahama why. Also the say that the rit are very bright, which i agree, so to conter act that i just shortened .0500-1.00 the q on the high feq aka 400-16k and lengthend the q on the lower end of the part 1.5-20 does that sound like a good fix? also I am going to beat a dead hourse and say what type of amp setup should i go i like to lisetn to bass heavy musice, i am most likely going to go with the rxv running the highs and then a 2 channle amp on the subs. Lastly if i take of the jumper does that lower the ohms on the subs. Sorry to be a pain but i put i up what i tried and need so serious help!!!!! thank you for you time.

You don't need to bi-amp from the receiver, it's useless. Yammie receivers and RTI speakers are not a good match in my opinion anyway. They are both bright pieces. Single run of cables to the speakers. Replace the jumpers with some extra speaker wire. You have to keep the top and bottom posts connected on the speaker or you will not be hearing either the top or bottom, depending on which you use to connect your speaker wire. If you buy a seperate 2 channel amp, just use that, not bi-amped with the receiver. If you still don't have enough bass, get a subwoofer, and keep the volume down dude, that distortion your hearing...is destroying your speakers.

the reciver has a option of of useing the back srounds as another front channel power source so i am able to get 280 watts per side with all my eq settings. I did this and it sounded good to a point but i just wasn't getting what i expect from the speakers or mabey the amp. I was wonders why don't people like yahama.

This just isn't true. The Bi-Amp feature on an AVR doesn't add any extra wattage to your speakers, or very little atleast. The AVR's amp only has one power source and it sends the same amount of power to all the channels, regardless of how many you are running, for the most part. The best way to get extra power to your speakers is with an external amp hooked up via the AVR's pre amp outputs (pre-outs) Look into an external amp, if your AVR has pre-outs and you will get the full potential of your speakers. Look into Adcom, Sunfire, Rotel and even Emotiva. 200+ watts will get you started. Good luck. Welcome to Club Polk.

wutadumsn23 thank you for your input. I took off the jumpers and went from a 7.1 to a 5.1 set up with condserably more output from the speaker, i do understand that you only have one source for the the 7 channels but going ot a five frees up to of the channles for more watts. I should check yahama to make sure. also what about what i did with the q is that a good idea?

also i do notice that the back sourounds do seem a little lite on the power side so to that i agree.

Maybe a little, but not that much I would imagine. As for the q's, if it sounds good to you, who am I to argue? LOL.
