Polluting Dorokusai's wanted post for brochures...

In fairness, I'll start a new thread and pollute it instead.

"Thrusters" have a LOT OF POTENTIAL if you know what I mean! Where is Keiko--when you need him--this is a photo op?

I must confess I borrowed the Thrusters graphic from a certain popular on-line auction site some years back. No Thrusters paraphernalia in my collection :-( ... it's an aspirational target.

I like the lady cooking. Too many talk to much.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. If you need help let these guys know. There are many people who will help if you let them know where you are.
    Thanks

I've printed out a bunch of your posts over the past year Mark, nice thread. You know what's crazy is that Polk has kept very little historical information in regards to docs and the like. I had to fight about the schematics thread and some of them are lost forever.

When I was a kid, I thought those panasonic thrusters were damn cool.

Do you have anything on a Nikko Alpha VI amp? The only thing I could find is the service manual. The owners manual & advertising pieces are a bear to dig up. Thanks.

The historical/archival aspect certainly varies from company to company. harman/kardon is definitely the best (to my knowledge), Electrovoice (through several owners) is pretty good, too, and Yamaha's not bad (the Japanese site). Polk does have at least some legacy information on-line.

I think it's our duty to archive whatever we can! ;-)

Not a single piece of Nikko info, I don't think. I will check again, though. They made generally very decent stuff, and some world-class FM tuners, too.

Very cool. So retro. I like it. Klipsch is another company that is very proud of its past.

Yup, forgot them (which is kind of ironic, since I used a pair of vintage Klipsch Cornwalls in the living room for a decade before I switched to Altecs).

Speaking of Altec :-) There's a fair amount of Altec and JBL information including catalog and brochure scans at www.lansingheritage.org I forgot to mention that excellent resource in Dorokusai's aforementioned "wanted" thread.

I also neglected to mention www.classicspeakerpages.net , which is an excellent resource for the "New England loudspeaker crew" and their wares: AR, KLH, Advent, Cizek, Allison (and some others).

I recently heard some floor standing Kef speakers, probably early 80s sound just as good as a lot of speakers out there today, the cabinet was real wood too!

Yeah man. Klipsch is awesome. I still have my Cornwall but really miss selling my La Scala.

You're correct about Altec. I love the old outdoor pic that showed all their giant speakers. Incredible.

Wow, I suppose I could dust this off and scan a Zenith operation manual if anyone needs one <G>. Cabinet even has original price tag from BHA (better home appliances) of $495. Long live 2 channel hi fi...

If that Zenith console has the single-ended 6BQ5 stereo power amp... that's a more than decent fleapower tube amp for the high-efficiency newbie. 5 wpc. The Zenith amp of which I speak was the "inspiration" for Steve Deckert's SE-84 "Zen" amplifier (www.decware.com ). I have one in the basement (the Zenith console amp, that is)... and an SE-84B in the attic (come to think of it).

You got any Decware, Mark? (Edit: I just reread your post and read of your "attic rig") I've got a buddy who built Steve's HDT towers and has a modified SE-84. Cool stuff. He recently moved out your way...

Here's my SE-84B. It is not a bad-sounding little amplifier but was too low-powered for full-range use even for 98-ish dB sensitive Klipsch Cornwalls. Probably be a great MR/HF amp in a bi or tri-amped system, though.

Had a pair of those back in the '80s. Not bad for what we listened to.

I have my grandfather's Panasonic Thrusters in the basement along with the Phone/Tape/Am/Fm all-in-one.
I'm the only one in the family that cares about music, so my grandmother thought I'd want all of that... So now I'm stuck with it all until she passes away.

Not the worst compact system speakers you'll ever hear... some of the Panasonic all-in-ones were actually pretty decent, too (believe it or not).
