If anyone here has access to Audiogon's Blue Book service, I'd sure like to know what a Project 6.9 turntable is worth. Thanks guys.

    Used Average is $360. I didn't see a listing on 2010 Orion but I didn't look that hard.
    CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

    I don't have access to AG's Blue Book service but I do own a Pro-ject 6.9. I bought it about a year and a half ago and it's been an excellent tt. I think I paid around $425.00 used with no cartridge. That's Canadian dollars too. I'm curious as to what it's worth myself. The table is fully suspended and damped, has a very good arm. Adjustable conical feet for leveling the base and seperate adjusters for leveling the plinth. Plus built in bubbble level. I find it to be a very quiet table. Mine is placed very near to one of my SDA 1c's and the suspended isolated plinth keeps vibration noise from the speaker non-existant. If it's in good shape I would say it's worth a lot more than the $425.00 I paid.

    Thanks guys. It is indeed a very nice turntable. Mine needs a new dust cover and I've never had the clamp that threads onto the spindle. Oh yeah, that spirit level is dried up and the cup that contains the silicone oil that dampens the upper plinth is fouled up and not in service. I noticed that most of these parts are available at needle doctor and I was planning to place an order.

    So Fongolio, do you imagine I'd notice an improvement if I replaced the silicone cup so that I could benefit from the damping? I can't say the lack of the record clamp has bothered me that much either. Do you generally use yours?

    Yes, I love the clamp and use it every record. I'd pick up one of those befor getting the silicone oil cup filled if you can only afford one right now. The theory is that the sillicone dampens vibrations and sets resonance. The screw further submerged makes for lower resonance I believe. I honestly can't say I notice any difference when it's almost out of the silicone or when it's in deep.

    When I bought the turntable off a guy on Canuckaudiomart which is kind of like audiogon for Canadians he shipped it with the frinnin' platter on the table and a huge amount of damage was done to the plinth cover and arm. The arm was actually bannana shaped. I've since repaired everything including the arm which I straightened by using a pair of fabricating vice grips with really wide flat mouth and just slowly applying pressure over and over again. It was a long and painful process but the looks as good as new. No evidence of damage and the bearings miraculously were fine. The upper plinth has a bit of a gouge in the metal but I used some flat black paintand you have to look reallly hard to tell it was ever damaged. The platter has a few marks and it's almost impossible to fix as it's coated in vinyl so agian just a little touch up.

    The sub platter spindle was bent slightly giving the platter a bit of a wobble but I finally located a new one and now it runs perfectly true. The lid had a few nasty scratches and one good gouge. I polished out the scratches and have to live with the gouge but it's on a side so not too noticable. I've recently replaced the tonearm wires as the old ones were very light and the cartridge clips had come off and been resoldered too many times.

    It now looks and sounds great and here's the best part....I told the guy about all the damage and what a piss poor job he'd done packing it and he refunded all my money including shipping and paypal. At least he had the decency to see it for what is was. So it was a lot of work but in the end worth it. Sounds like yours needs some tlc but I think it plays right up there with the $1500 tables of today and worth the repair. If you do nothing else get a clamp for it. Many models of Pro-ject and few Music Hall's fit your spindle. I think it really tightens the bass up. Have fun.

    I second the purchase of a clamp. It will as Kelvin said tighten up the bass but will do a lot more such as lower the noise floor. Record clamps are an integral part of the turntable system to get the most out of your records.

    I particularly like this one;

    I'm not sure it will work on his 6.9 though. The 6.9 has a very high threaded spindle.

    OK guys, I'm convinced. I'm ordering a new dustcover, clamp and felt mat.

    Thanks for the input.

    Mine came to me in neglected condition too, lots of missing pieces, however nothing like your situation. I completely disassembled everything and cleaned it all up.

    I'll post a photo when I get it finished.

    You don't live on Vancouver Island, do you? I'm planning to circumnavigate the island next summer aboard my Catalina 38.

    No, I'm in the interior in the Okanagan valley. That boat trip sounds awesome. Just be careful up at the northern tip of the Island, they get get some freaky large storms up there. The trade off though is the scenery which is spectacular.
