Do you think New Jersey is a dump? This is especially for those of you who have never been here and just heard all the bad things. But everyone should sound off :(

Where I live it's is beautiful but I have been to parts where the area is awful. Like most states we all have ugly area's. But for some reason NJ gets noticed for the bad areas than other states. I wonder if it has more to do with the very high **** ratio here than the state itself.

My great Aunt lives in Jersey who i visited every summer as a Kid, and my Mom was born there.. I like Jersey honestly...

It has its dumpy parts for sure but theres a lot of nice looking places in Jersey.. and if you're up north, you can't beat the convienence of NY city right there. It is definitely not the Dump, everyone makes it out to be. course this could all just be biased memories from when i was a kid. :)

I've driven through a lot of smelly places in Jersey. And yet... they send all their garbage into PA landfills. Weird.

I never had it like this where I grew up. But I send my kids here because the fact is you go to one of the best schools in the country: Rushmore. Now, for some of you it doesn't matter. You were born rich and you're going to stay rich. But here's my advice to the rest of you: Take dead aim on the rich boys. Get them in the crosshairs and take them down. I think the proximity to NYC is what makes everyone focus on the bad areas. Plus most states at least have one major city that they can use as a marquee; all of NJ's major cities are known only for being crime-ridden, or just rundown. You guys need one major city, is what I'm saying :)

I've been through quite a bit of NJ and most of it is nice.

I grew up in NY and we used to take a couple trips a year to NJ and hit the beach to do some surfing on canvas rafts. I have nothing but fond memories of NJ and would love to get back there some day.

I lived in Cherry Hill West for five years and loved it . . . except for the traffic and NO LEFT TURNS in Jersey. Every turn is a jug handle. Thank God they got rid of most of those pain in **** circles.

I live in SJ and there is a huge difference between NJ and SJ. 1 hour North or South, I can be in NYC or Atlantic City. 20-30 minutes west and I am in Philly.

There is a place for everyone but overall, I like living in SJ. This where where I am going to raise my family. There is enough diversity here. NJ sucks for those who don't have kids in the public school. Because of the high RE taxes, it's more expensive to live.

No complaints from me about Jersey...South Jersey that is. Abundant outdoor activities, the Jersey shore's a hop skip & a jump. The Poconos (Pa) are right in my back door. All the pro teams (Eagles, Phillies, Flyers, 76'ers only 25min away. We're going to the Flyers game this coming Tues!!! If I feel like hitting NY, a quick train ride right to Madison Square garden. Nothing like passing horses, cows, sheep as your driving around for that country feel. Then I can hit the Kimmell Center in Center City Philly for a nice night out. Great restaurants, shops, shows. Like I said, no complaints...oh & I almost forgot, plenty of hi-end audio digs all over the place.

That's why I moved to Delaware. Real Estate taxes run from $250 to $1000 per year. My brother-in-law lives in Merchantville, NJ and pays over $7000 per year. Another plus in Delaware is there is no sales tax.

having only visited for a short time... there are a few areas that I saw that were complete sespools, but that is true of anywhere these days. Mostly I saw the area around the USS New Jersey however. It had been almost twenty years since I snapped off a salute, but I did so as soon as my eyes gazed upon her glorious hull. I am puzzled as to why that is with the huge amount of taxes they take in.

I think North Jersey is a far nicer than South Jersey. In the North we have a lot more character and charm for starters. Beautiful rolling hills and farms along with some of the most beautiful homes in the country. Of course the **** ratio is higher here than South Jersey so I guess you can't have everything.
Where I live I can be to Newark in about 45 minutes or Camden in about an hour and a half. Which means I can be in NYC in an hour and Philly in about an hour and a half. Not that I want to go to either place anytime soon. Traffic sure does suck and so do the drivers. It seems that its always a foreigner, a Pennsylvania Apple Picker or a woman doing 65 mph in the left lane refusing to move to the center lane no less the far right lane. I don't know how to correct it but if they could traffic would move along far better and safer. The Apple Pickers I think are the worst. They drive from PA to their job in NJ for good reasons I know but have their heads up the butt. They generally drive junk **** cars and never leave that damn left lane. May they are just too dumb to know any better.

I say South/Central Jersey is cool, because I don't have too much experience with the northern areas. While I think North Jersey is fine, North Jersey to most people still means Lovely Linden by The Turnpike (the stench), or what they see going into Newark Liberty Int'l. Airport. That's wrong. Northwest Jersey could not be more beautiful, but if you plan on living there, you and your cash be going separate ways. That is some of the priciest real estate in the nation I would wager.
