They sound great! Nice small footprint too which makes them easy to place and they are fairly light so they're much easier to move around than their boxed cousins. I have a 25-31PCPlus. The new NSD driver in the entry level subs is really good, in fact I've heard performance approaches that of the earlier Plus drivers if that makes you feel any better. I upgraded my diver to the 12.3 Plus when they offered an upgrade special. Good luck! -

I was never under the impression that they were "better" than the box subs, only that they had a smaller footprint. Could be wrong though.Things work out best for those who make the best of the way things work out.-John Wooden -
well you can make you own out of a concrete(sono) tube. It's what they use to pour concrete pilings and such. I did and I tuned it to 17hz with 15"woofers and a 1000 watt amp to run it. Made a cloth covering for it or you can glue carpet to like you can get from parts express

I have a SVS 20-39CS+ that has been going strong for 4+ years, though I did swap out the original driver for the dB12.3 upgrade. SVS makes a solid subwoofer that will troll nice and deep. I've heard the corresponding box sub here locally, and it didn't sound radically different.Equipment list:
Onkyo TX-NR3010 9.2 AVR
Emotiva XPA-3 amp
Polk RTi70 mains, CSi40 center, RTi38 surrounds, RTi28 rears and heights
SVS 20-39CS+ subwoofer powered by Crown XLS1500
Oppo BDP-93 Blu-ray player
DarbeeVision DVP5000 video processor
Epson 8500UB 1080p projector

yeah, the boxes and cylinders are generally considered roughtly equlivent (within the same line)
It really comes to a decision of which one you like the look of better.
Remeber, the cylinders can be layed on their sides behind a sofa if that works for your situation. -
good stuff, now i just have to decide if i want to get regular version or save up for the plus..hmmmm..

as a pc12plus owner i can tell you that it is quite impressive....i have mine directly behind my theater seats and its a very enjoyable experience...watching top gun on bluray makes you feel like you are right next to the jets and the bellrock from lotr feels like hes stomping through my house...pretty amazing stuff...once you get a sub that goes this low you'll wonder how you did without it...honestly, save up and get the plus...you might save a little now but probably will regret it laterTheater: Epson 8500ub, Elite 120" screen, Lsic, Lsi25, Lsifx, SVS Pc12plus, SVS Pc12plus, Emotiva Xpa-5, Denon Avr3311ci, Sony Bdps1000es

I've had no issues with my cat. I did, however, put on a loud scene and pause it until she got near it. It only took that one scare to keep her from messing with it. (Plus, it was kinda' funny to watch. Just sayin'!)Equipment list:

+1000- Great sub. No replacement for displacement. Love mine. It's not going anywhere until I can swing a PB13 Ultra! -

I just got the PC12-NSD and I love it. It's 3 ft tall but only 16 1/2" wide footprint. I have big room with openings and all hardwood floor. It sounds great. Totally non-directional. Only half the floor space of the box ones. It's located in a corner in front. Very nice sounding bass.:)spnplgr

Thought I'd ask if anyone has had experience with a passive sub running a separate power amp to it?

well it's the way i run mine. I made a 7' tall 24"diameter sono tube with 2-15" woofers and tuned @17hz I run mine with a amp that is of Bob Carver design "tracking down converter" just dont have the Sunfire name 1000 watts into 4 ohm's ....lets just say it can pressurize a room. -
Sounds like you have a hard hitting sub there pitdogg2! I've noticed a number of sub companies make passive units you can run with whatever amp you want to use. I've noticed a number of people are using high powered pro audio amps with plenty of watts to feed these.

I'm running a SVS 20-39CS+ passive sub with a Samson 1000 rackmount amp powering that and a Buttkicker LFE (500w to each). I'm also passing the SVS' signal through an ART-351 EQ just to use the subsonic filter (since I don't need the EQ itself now that Audyssey has tamed most of my room-induced issues and since the Buttkicker provides the really deep tactile bass).Equipment list:
