SHould i upgrade
Looking for some further advice. I am strongly considering polk monitor 60, cs 1 or cs 2 center channel to upgrade my system so it is more "matched" and add a subwoofer (PSW10?).
Currently I have two polk s6 speakers for fronts and a cerwin vega LS-6c for a center. (no sub) After looking at the tech specs, it does not seem the new system would be much of an improvement. Please review the following and tell me if the monitor 60 with 3 midranges + a seperate subwoofer would be an improvement over the s6 with a midrange, and woofer(in the s6).
S6 - 6.5 inch woofer and midrange,
Efficiency 91db, freq 30hz - 25khz
Monitor 60 threee 5.25 inch midrange
efficiency 90db, freq 38hz-25khz.
Both the CS-2 and Ls-6c spec are almost identical - frequency 55hz -25 khz,
90 db efficiency.

The Monitor 60's are a very good speaker, and IMHO the CS2 would be a better match than the CS1. The CS1 would work, just may have to tweak it a bit to keep up with the 60's. The center channel, IMHO, is the most important speaker in any HT setup since something like 50-75% of audio is formatted to play through it (esp. dialogue) so don't skimp on your center. I don't know how well the "Frankensystem" would work together, but some people have had success mixing and matching. As for your sub, I would look into something a bit bigger than the PSW10. It is a good little sub, but those 60's will dig about as low as the 10 will and you will be doing yourself a favor to look into something along the lines of a PSW505, or a DSW microPRO 1000. They are both available from Newegg for $250, and $350 respectively (links below) Matter of fact, for about $100 more you can get the Monitor 70's and have you a very nice HT. The 70's and 60's are out of stock for the moment at Newegg in black (but are available in cherry) but they often go on sale there so keep your eyes open. Just my $.02. Welcome to Club Polk.
