VIFA Ring Radiator Tweeter with or without an wave guide.

A small experiment. Put an wave guide in front of a tweeter, an see how it change the sound. The musical program was filtred with L-R second order high pass active filter.

I'm no expert, and cannot base my thoughts on the video solely due to the fact my computer speakers suck. That being said, it would seem to me that ring radiator + waveguide = poo! I mean given the way the ring radiator tweeter emits sound, it would seem that a wave guide would diminish some of the tweeter's advantages, while at the same time "amplifying" other good parts to point of not good anymore....But what the hell do I know, it may sound good:o

A waveguide will allow the tweeter make the driver more efficient, allow it to play deeper, but will create a dip at the top end. So more than additional padding will be needed to compensate.
