A Polk speaker journey.
Well I finally picked up a pair of vintage Polk speakers. Me and a couple new Polkies went on a speaker exodus last weekend. The main purpose of the trip was for Will(lsiwill) to grab an awsome set of LSi15's that were on the Tampa craigslist. Only $550 and these things are mint, I wish I wasn't building an RTiA rig . . . but oh well, they're his first pair of Polks, so congrats bro.
Next stop was also in Tampa where Mike(MCCLIPSE) hoped to get a pair of $20 db 4x6's for his truck. Well, we were greeted at the door by the less than savory girlfriend of the seller who had a strange brown spot on the back of her pajama bottoms. Anyway, she led us through what appeared to be a meth lab to the snoop dog inspired bedroom that housed the speakers. I grabbed one and without inspecting it very closely pushed lightly on the cone to check for voice coil rubbage. Needless to say, my thumb went right through the cone and I got to buy a nicely aerated pair of 4 x 6's. By the time we got out of that hell hole to the truck, the cone had pretty much disinegrated. I love craigslist . . .
The last stop was in Orlando. We pulled into a gated community, which was a nice change, and were greeted by a nice pair of Monitor 5's (I think they're 5B's, but I'm not sure) that I got for $45. A much smoother transaction this time, thank God.
All in all, it was a good trip. Will got his first Polks, me my first vintage Polks and Mike got a good laugh and a pair of db tweeters for free. Its amazing where craigslist will take you.
