Upgrading a pair of SDA 2 originals, need help

Hello everyone, I am looking to upgrade my newly acquired speakers. I plan on sealing all of the interior corners, dampening the PR baskets, and replacing all of the driver gaskets with the weather proofing. I would also like to replace the tweeters, since that seems to be a common thing to do around here, and also rebuild the crossovers and switch out the binding posts.

I did a search and didn't find much for the original SDA 2's. I'm sure that the crossover schematic is a bit different than the 2A or 2B. I looked at Aadvark1's thread detailing his build, but I am having trouble finding a parts list. Also I have been told that switching to the RDO tweeters means that I would need to change my crossover points. I saw that Aadvark1 changed out his tweeters also, but I don't know if crossover points were changed.

I have also read about bypassing the tweeter fuses, which I have noticed are mounted on the rear of the mounting plate, although mine have no fuses. There are just three small holes, does that mean my crossover layout could be different?

Lastly, where is the best (cheapest) place to purchase the caps and parts?

Anyways any help to get me started would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks
Dan

Also on upgrading the tweeters, I have that not everyone agrees that the SL2000 is better than the RDO 194. I have found it all depends on the speaker. Any experience with both tweeters in the original SDA 2? I prefer a slightly brighter sounding tweeter, I like the crisp high hats.

If you like the sound of your tweeters, why change them. The RDO 194's that would be the replacement for your tweeters in the SDA 2's would not require any change on the crossover. Parts Express sells Solens and Daytons, the cheapest caps.

if you want a little better capacitor ,some here have tried, and like the clarity caps from parts express and other prefer the sonicaps,, resistors can br replaced with mills wirewound resistors--good luck with your project.

Thanks alot! I do like the tweeter in there, but to be fair I live in an apartment and cannot turn them up. I may not like them as much at higher volumes. A majority of the people speak so highly of the RDO-194 that it seems almost stupid not to switch them out, plus I'm a big fam of silk tweeters.

I know the original SDA 2's have their limitations so I was curious as to what other SDA would be a better investment as far as upgrading. The only problem is that this is the first pair af SDAs I have seen in person so they don't come by often around my area.

    Thanks again
