Used Marantz SR5003 Pricing

I may be selling my Marantz SR5003 receiver which I've owned for less than a year. I put it into protect mode accidentally by pushing too low of impedance speakers. It's being repaired soon, and when it does it will have a 90 day warranty. Seeing how it has an MSRP of $800, is only slightly used and has a short warranty, what do you guys think a fair asking price is?

Please note: I am not collecting bids, nor is this in the For Sale listing, so this post should conform to forum rules. Please do not PM me offers. It is not for sale. I am simply trying to budget for other equipment before I make any purchases or sales.

Accessories for less has refurbs with 1 year warranty for $450, so I would guess $350-$400.

Yeah, that seems pretty reasonable. Thanks

That's a decent AVR and if I'm not mistaken it DOES have pre-outs so that does put it in the over 300 dollar category even as a refurb.

    Good luck with the sale...

Thanks! I really don't want to let her go. I figured it'd be fine with 4 ohm speakers, but I guess I just like to turn it up a little too loud. And I won't compromise on my blarringly loud movie watching so I've gotta look for something else. I could just buy a separate amp, but I've got a tight budget right now.

Seems like finding a decent amp to drive your 4ohm loads would be cheaper than trying to find a new receiver capable of driving that load... just my 2 cents.

If you just need to drive you left/right channels you could look at picking up a pair of the marantz mono block amps..

    +1,

You can get a used amp cheaper than you could dumping the AVR for something else. The Marantz should make a pretty good pre?

My plan right now is to find a cheap 2 channel amp. I can't even think of a 4 ohm receiver off the top of my head. Any suggestions for a 2 channel amp? I'd be interested in used also.

If by cheap you mean <$300 you'll almost definitely need to look for something used on audiogon/ebay.

Brands like Rotel, Adcom, Marantz, Emotiva, Outlaw, ATI, B&K, Bryston would all suffice i'm sure. There are many more that could be added to this list.

Anything that is a dedicated two channel amplifier should be fine, obviously the more power the better..

    Under 300 would be nice.
