    1. It appears to be an RTA12...the series could be anything from A and even a B.
    2. I'd look for any vintage Monitor series to match up...Monitor 5, 5jr even the Monitor 4. Otherwise, it doesn't matter, use whatever you want.
    3. Yes you have enough power.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

Just to let you know, I've seen a few RTA12s and the A or B designation was printed on the crossover circuit board behind the tweeter.

So there is no A or B after the RTA12 on the circuit board? I've seen two that had it stamped right on the board.

Nice speakers. I'd recommend anyone looking for old Monitors try to find some with Peerless tweeter. More so to you, since that what your RTA12s have. .......Then again if your from Siberia or Serbia...you may have to take what you can get your hands on.

Those are definitely RTA 12's you have there. I bought a pair (in rosewood wood grain to match the rosewood cabinets of my Luxman components) new in Chattanooga TN in March of 81. They are still in my den and I still enjoy them. I kept the receipts under the crossover of the left speaker and just looked at it for the first time since I brought them home. They do have a true left and right.

The receipt only states "RTA 12" as does the stamp on the crossover. They were sold new with stands, which were a black laminate pedestal design, and as I recall they were offered in two heights. The laminate on my pedestals began coming off the press board they were made from so I retired them years ago. The speakers still look great and sound better than that.

I will be down sizing my residence in the near future and regrettably suspect they wont make the cut as I will no longer have the room for large floor standing speakers. But I have sure loved them and would recommed that if you guys have room and run across a pair of in nice condition you should snatch them up. After all they don't build them like they use to.

Incidentally I paid $493.37 for the pair with stands back in 81 which was big bucks for me at the time.

The RTA12 didn't use or need a stand but it did have a built-in "plinth" which I guess some could call a stand. Thanks for posting the information.

Do you have a picture of the stand? I'm wondering if you were actually sold a stand for the other speakers, loosely considered within that same line....at that time.
