Monitor 40 on newegg and AM40 speaker brackets question

Hi all, To complete my setup (1 CS2, 2 M70s, Pioneer VSX-9040TXH), I ordered Monitor 40 ($115 a pair on sale this week) today.

I have a question on the RM40 brackets:

http://www.bracketsandstands.com/AM40_SIDE_CLAMPING_WALL_MOUNT_SPEAKER_BRACKETS_p/am40.htm

which seem to be fitting M40s, both dimension-wise and weight wise:

AM40:

5.5” to 11” wide, up to 13” deep and a maximum of 50 lbs

M40:

http://www.polkaudio.com/homeaudio/specs/recent/monitor40/
15-3/4" H x 7" W x 12" D
16 lbs

They do not require any holes to be drilled in the speakers, which is good, since the M40 does not have the provision.

What I am worried about is the possibility that the speaker might "fall down" - in the attached picture to the AM40 link above, the brackets are on the side, and the speaker is going to be facing down toward the listening position, with a tilt. I am worried it might slide off and fall on someones head. Am I being paraonid? Does any one have any experience with AM40 or similar mounts?

Thanks,
Mathru

I bought the same brackets and speakers last week, I did a lot of reading and the AM40's will work just fine for you. I did put my AM40's on ebay since the wife told me to get stands for the 40's and not mount them after all.

I forgot to mention I did also read someone using a zip tie to help them up also, not sure if they attached it to the speaker wire though.

Thanks ScudDawg. It looks like the AM40 comes with 5 screws.

"If desired, screws may be used with the five security screw holes on each bracket to attach the brackets to the speaker sides or bottom."

The AM40 manual is here: http://pinpointmounts.com/resources/AM40_manual.pdf

Is it ok if I drill holes in in M40 on the bottom and back: how far deep can I go without doing any functional damage?
