PSB Alpha T1 Loudspeaker - Black - 9/10 - *SOLD* to Njpolker

I just picked these up to play around with but have no real need for them. They are brand spanking new with about 20 hours or so on them in total. This is the Alpha T series from PSB Loudspeakers. I haven't owned a bunch of PSB but have heard most of the entry level floorstanders including the Image T45/T55 and these sound much better.

The older series I've listened to just didn't have much life in them and were almost dull. The changes in these clearly brought some character into the lineup. The high end finally has some sparkle without being shrill and the mid-bass response from the D'Appolito array is solid.

PSB has been a well respected Canadian loudspeaker company for a few decades. I've often heard them referred to as the Polk Audio of Canada. Paul Barton has created a pretty diverse lineup so the comment does kinda fit. The drivers and crossovers are all handbuilt in Canada.

The speakers are in Blash Ash, real wood veneer and sharp looking in person. If you're looking for something a little different than Polk but still with a little "Polk" like flavor, these should make you very happy.

Trivia: What do the initials PSB stand for?

They are black....and can easily blend in more than maple. Tell her the maple was just a sticker.

These are still lookingn for a good home. If you need a push I can promise to send your kids to college? It's actually less college and more a paramilitary boot camp.

The price now includes shipping within CONUS. That's a real nice savings for a heavy, oversized box.

I just gotta try and listen to more speakers. And I am the first one to admit how F'ed up I am. My wife would be first but I have effectively hidden a lot of this from her.

Cool, thanks man. You should always try to get as many speakers filed away in your head otherwise you'll never know what you like or don't.

    Can only hide so much....

They will notice speakers, but you can hide the "Cash Upgrade Program" and just give some other excuse like the "Club Polk Upgrade Program"

She will notice these when I move out the SRS2's no doubt. However, we are going to re-do our living room real soon and I may put these in there for awhile after I have them down here with me of course. She will love them. Maybe I will keep the Arcam CD72 CDP and the Cambridge Audio A500 Integrated amp hook these up and she'll have her own nice system. I still have a set of Audioquest type 4's around so I'll just need a set of IC's.
Yes, I am a pro at manipulation. I have been manipulating myself for so long I should be a pro!

    Thanks Mark

I set them up and my wife gets home from work walked right by them without saying a word. My son got home from basketball practice came down stairs and asked, what are those little pieces of junk? Kate gets home from school and says, oh no more speakers? Then my wife notices and asks, how much? I didn't hear her so blew that off. My son thinks the bigger the better and was just joking with me.

The sound they produce is amazing for $500.00 speakers. They can not compete with my SRS2's understandably so but are no slouch either. Their upper mids and highs are almost as good as the SRS2's. I am delighted with the sound stage too. The sound stage is damn good. They are about 8 feet apart and I am about 8 feet from them so that hopefully is good. They are toed so the right channel points to the right side of my right side and the left the same direction off my left side. I'll fool with the placement as I get used to them. It is surprising how much tight bass they produce with two 5 1/2" drivers.
    Thats all for now.

Let them break in for another 100....they barely have any time on them. They should settle down a bit on the high end and the mid range should start to become more robust and punchy.

Thanks for picking them up and enjoy the hell out of them.
