Need reccomendations for Center speakers and rears
Hello everyone, I am new here and have been a long supported of polk audio ever since I worked for an electronics store 5 eyars ago. This past year on boxing day up here in Canada I finally purchased a home audio system and dumped my home theatre in a box.
This is the equipment that I purchased:
Pioneer VSX-9140TXH receiver
2 Polk RTi10 floor standing speakers
PSW 111 subwoofer (I know it's not the best sub, but it was a great price and a good starter sub)
Now I am obviously looking to purchase a centre channel and two rears. The receiver is a 7.1 but I probably won't worry about those last two speakers for a little while.
So my question to you knowledgeable polk posters is what would you recomend for a centre channel and surrounds? Price can be anything as I am open to looking at everything and anything polk. I am sold on polk being one of the best.
Thanks a lot and I appreciate everyones feedback in advance.

Get a csi5 for your center.
I'm running rti8s for surrounds with my 10s, but if I had to do it again...I'd look harder at fxi5s. -
Oh...and welcome to the forum. Where are my manners?

Hey no worries, thanks for the welcome.
But ya just after I posted this thread I found a similar thread with a guy asking the same thing. Seemed that the consensus pick for the centre was a CSi5. How does a CSIA4 compare to a CSi5?
As for the rears I was looking at the RTi4s for $200. But am intrigued by the fxi5s. Thanks for the reply. -
Did you bi-amp your RTi10s? I heard they are a little power hungry and could use the extra juice. My system:
Front: 2xPolk RT800 Floor speakers (Bi-wired) - SOLD
Center: Polk CSi5 - For Sale!
Receiver: Onkyo TX-SR806 THX-Ultra2 130W 7.1
Sub: Velodyne DPS-12 -

No I didn't and I wouldn't bother bi-amping unless using a super high-end amp. -
My secondary receiver is Technics SA-DA8 receiver (100Wx5, an old & "cheap" receiver circa-2000), and currently driving a pair of vintage KEF Q80 floorstanders (bi-wired)... since they currently operate in 2-channel, it goes to bi-amp mode. Very noticeable difference in the midrange/low-end sound quality... more pronounced. A modern 7.1 low-end receiver should be able to bi-amp the 2 fronts in a 5.1 configuration (correct me if I'm wrong). My system:

The csiA6 is the redesigned Csi5. It would work great also. The csiA4 is the smaller redesigned csi3 and it they would sound good, but I'm all about the bigger center if at all possible. -

+1,000 Get the biggest, baddest center you can fit/afford. It is, IMHO the most important speaker in any HT setup.

Thanks to everyone who replied that really made my decision for a center speaker real easy. I will be on the look out for a CSi5 and if not I will go with the CSiA6.

No your right I could easily bi-amp it but I really doubt I would hear much of a difference. But I will definitely try it. -
