Home depot knows how to get you

I can't tell you how many times I've gone into Home Depot and walked out with $300 worth of stuff. I can tell you how many times I've walked out of there with less than $300 worth of stuff... and that's 0.

Why? If you spend more than $300 and put it on your Home Depot card, you get 6 months of no payments/no interest.

Now, I've never kept a balance on my card for more than the promotional period. Therefore, the company has never gotten any interest from me. But... I always spend $300 whenever I go in there.

Today, I went in looking to get a new microwave and a humidifier for the house. Walked out with:

Microwave (floor model, saved $50) - $99.66
3 drawer cabinet (temp clothing storage for the GF) - $85.00
Humidifier - $59.99
Accordian door for comp room - $43.00
12 pack of CFL's - $15.97
3'x4' entry rug - $10.97
4 pack of AA lithium batteries - $9.94
Bottle of Simple Green - $4.96
Cleanup pan and brush - $4.49
Lock for accordian door - $3.66

Tax - $20.26

Total - $357.90

Yep.... all things that I'll use... but only two that I went into the store to buy.

Oh well... have 6 months to pay it off.
Ludicrous gibs!

I love interest free deals. As long as you are religious about payment them off, it's a great way to go.

And yeah, Home Depot has a way of doing that to people. It doesn't happen to me that way, only because I live real close to one and generally go there a few times a week for home improvement stuff. If I lived further away I'd almost certainly queue things up and buy in quantity like that.

Try to get out of Costco or Sams Club for under $100. I seem to never be able to do it.

If it's interest free, I'll do it, otherwise I won't. The only thing I'm paying interest on right now is my HELOC loan, that's it.

When I bought my new car a couple of years ago I even got that interest free for 5 years.
