Polk TSi CS10 Center Matching
Replacing my old (1995) and small Infinity Minuette Sorround Pack.
Also replacing receiver of same vintage.
My home theater space is 14 x 14 feet.
Have an Infinity powered woofer, which I like.
Have purchased a Sony STR DH800 receiver.
Have purchased Polk CS10 Center.
Questions:
Front speakers: Will Monitor 60 be a good match besides the TSi series?
Which speakers would be good for rear sorround?
Saving money is important but, so is sound.
Thanks

Having already purchased a CS10, I would stick with the TSi line for your fronts and pick up a set of TSi 400's. As for your surrounds I would get the TSi 200's. Only problem is that CS10 may not be "man enough" to keep up with the 400's without tweaking the settings a little to compensate. All in all the Monitor and TSi series are not that much different (on paper) and from what I have heard not that much different in performance either. Main difference would be cosmetic with the TSi's piano finish on the top. Some people have reported success by mix and matching the two series, but I personally have not, so maybe some one who has will chime in. Any chance of returning/trading/selling that CS10 and getting your hands on a CS2? Then I would go for the 60's (or maybe even the 70's) and the 40's and call it a day. There are great discounts to be had on the Monitor series and IMHO for the prices they are going for these days, they are hard to beat. Keep us informed and welcome to Club Polk.

It's not that I'm insensitive, I just don't care.. -
I currently have the m60s and CS10 and M40s for surrounds it works GREAT!!!
The problem with the CS1 was it was only rated at 89Db Efficiency while the much better reviewd CS2 was 90Db that may not sound like a lot on paper but it works out to be a HUGE difference in volume as more and more watts are used. The CS10 has a 91Db Efficiency so it can keep up with the towers easy with zero tweaks. (The extra bass from the larger cones on the CS2/CS20 is largely minimal unless you listen to 5 channel music.)
Also get the 60s there much cheaper and sound the same. If you have any doubt as to if there is any huge delta in sound between the Tsi and Monitor lines of speakers look at this forum and the pages of arguments about it. If there was a clear and noticeable difference there would be no need to argue about it. : P They blend together very well.
(just don't buy the psw10 it's been a real let down.)Monitor 60s, CS10 front
