Sure it's possible. I would check out SVS or Hsu. Give them a call and see what they can do. That's a big room and would have to go bigger....but they also may have 'B' stock.
Another route is check out used stuff on Audiogon, Craigslist etc.... a lot of great deals to be had.Onkyo TX-NR809

Heard 600 was a good performer. Specially with music. Have you thought about dual in such a big room? -
I like the DSW Pro 600 for music, I'm using it in a 20 x 32' + room and it sounds just fine. It also does a decent job for HT too.

Can you DIY? Do you have access to any tools such as a table saw and router?
Would you have the desire to DIY? If so then your options opened up considerably. -

yes i am thinking about a dual sub, but i am looking first to amplify my RTI A9s , their BASS extension might negate the need for a second sub. -
That's a two sub room up there. Suggestions for SVS, HSU and Velodyne are good ones..
If you're using 2 I'd also consider the Polk DSW-600. And give Elemental Designs a look--they're kind of the new kid on the block and offer a lot of power and value for the money.
Some people also run Epiks and Sunfire subs...
In any case. Start with ONE and save for ANOTHER!

i am finding eD getting more hype frankly (specially on the A3 and A2) i find the new POLKs (DSW) very competitive there, some people are facing some quality issues with their subs, not to mention the waiting. -
Sunfire True Sub. They can be had for your budget if you are willing to watch and wait on ebay and audiogon. I have bought two for under $500 each.Sunfire TGP, Sunfire Cinema Grand, Sunfire 300~2 (2), Sunfire True Sub (2),Carver ALS Platinum, Carver AL III, TFM-55, C-19, C-9, TX-8, SDA-490t, SDA-390t

HSU subs are known to be very musical, and clean, while still being very powerful. I'd say they're the most musical subs on the market. Plus you benefit from the variable tuning capability. (close one port: tighten the response, and lower the extension.)
The VTF-2 fits your price range, and should have sufficient output for music in your room.My System Showcase!
