Slow Down Thru GA.

Just a heads up if you travel thru Georgia. As of today, if you exceed 85 on a four lane or 75 on a two lane, there is an additional $200.00 fine on top of the regular fine. You'd be lucky to get out for less than $500.00. Good luck if it is in a construction zone.. $650 plus $200. The $200 goes to support the trauma centers.

Those high rates just for speeding should be illegal.
I seriously doubt that will change anything though. Every time I go through Atlanta, if I'm not going 85 in a 55? I would die from getting plowed over from everybody else going 90.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
Out on the open interstate is where they will have a field day. The inner cities are a little harder to enforce.>

I'm sorry, but $800.00, points on your license and most likely an increase in rates is way out of line for a simple speeding ticket.
Back when I was young and dumb, I was flying around the beltway in DC and got clocked at around 120mph. Because the state trooper was a fan of my car, he reduced the speed to 74 [Thank you, sir ] and the fine was only $150.00 or so. I learned my lesson. An $800 ticket? Give me a freakin' break!
I know the right thing to do is simply not to speed, but these kind of fines are completely out of line with the violation.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~ -
Eh,, 800+/- really is about right,,in 1999 I was clocked at 87 in a 55 in metro Atlanta,, just a wee tad faster than the flow--312 smackers.JC approves....he told me so. (F-1 nut)

We have speed cameras set up in some of the areas around here. $40.00 a pop with no points, strictly a money maker for the county.
There's one road I travel a lot that has two traps, one for each direction, set up within a quarter mile of each other. The speed limit is 30 (should be at least 40), so for this one quarter mile stretch everyone does 30, then it's back to 40+. It's a complete joke.Political Correctness'.........defined

Its simple. Keep at 80 and you won't have problems on most of the interstate roads (unless its a construction area, in which case, you should be going slower anyway). If your on a 2 laner, you should never be doing much more than 60 anyway. I've lived in Atlanta for almost 14 years now. Its nonsense to say that you have to drive more than 70 to keep from getting run over. You can be just fine doing 70 if you stay in the middle lanes. For rig details, see my profile. Nothing here anymore...

Seems to me like a $200.00 investment in a detector would be better than paying a high fine. IF, they are still effective, it's been a long time since I had a "lead foot" and used detectors!:D

I just cruised to ATL airport and back. I feel no need to do more than 75. 80 on long trips. Virgina sucks worse than here.Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Bingo.
Here in Chicago and the burbs, camera's are set up everywhere. They have done studies that concluded the intersections with the camera's made it less safe for motorist. A ticket here cost 100 bucks. As such, goverment never controls it's spending,or gets smaller. But our wallets sure do.HT SYSTEM-
