Sherwood Newcastle A-965

I picked up (actually, had help on the "picking up" part) my A-965 this last Wednesday and had it connected in less than an hour. It came with its original box and packing - down to the original plastic wrap and had no visible flaws on the body. I hooked up 5 channels, at first as I didn't have enough speaker wire to bi-amp the Monitor 70 fronts right then (I feel that amping the back surrounds was a waste since the receiver could more than take care of them), so I eventually got to hear the difference it made from using a single channel from the amp on each front to using 2 channels per speaker after I had picked up the wire. The Sherwood is 7 mono blocks, high current amp that will go down to 2 ohms. It is rated at putting out 100W at 8 ohms.
I can't offer anything here but a beginner's subjective impression being that I've never owned an amp before this one. In music, I certainly could tell the difference: clearer tones, more separation of instruments, lower bass, and less harshness in the highs (no noise from the amp - is this what is referred to as transparency?); that was with one channel hooked up to the 70s. After hooking up the remaining two channels to the 70s last night, it was even more defined. HT is just absolutely awesome! To get better, I think I would have to move up in speakers. Bottom line, I am happy with this purchase .
I do have one question for anyone that might have the answer: The amp has a 12 volt trigger input and my receiver has 12 volt trigger outs. I wanted to use the 12 volt trigger, but the Sherwood states only to use a "stereo" mono jack while the Pioneer specifies to use only a "mono" jack. I feel I can easily get by without using the 12 volt trigger, but does anyone know a simple way to get around this? I was afraid to try using the stereo plug I have as I didn't know if that might damage the receiver.
