He seems to know what he is talking about. But on the other hand I see many who say with better wire comes better sound.
What do you guys think?
Makes for a good read.

My frustration isn't directed at you, but rather at the ubiquity of the link you posted, which leads to the same arguments, which are backed by the same cast of characters...
In short, I suggest you try some cables, within your budget, and let your own ears let you know what you think.Jay

To be sure i will. Not yet how ever I m just trying to get a REAL sub and amp first. I figure fancy wire/power cords make a small % change compared to other things i could spend money on. However one day when my situation changes and I get out of collage, fancy wires will be on the top of my list of things to test.Monitor 60s, CS10 front

MANSKITO, you just posted this at the wrong time. All is well, just follow the other thread to see what the consensus is. Judge for yourself which way you would like to go in your audio journey and no matter what? Just have fun. It's a great hobby.~ In search of accurate reproduction of music. Real sound is my reference and while perfection may not be attainable? If I chase it, I might just catch excellence. ~

I believe spelling you should be your first priority before you finish school."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche -
^ Maybe after he gets out of school he can have a "collage" of speakers wire.:p--Gary--

It's cool, the guys/gals around here like to haze newbies now and then. Don't feel bad about putting your foot forward and having someone step on it. Just read the thread and see what most people think.
And stick around for a while....it's good to just read a lot for a while till you get a bit of info and the hang of the place.
Most of these guy's bark is worse than they're bite. They're real pussycats who'd love to 'help' you with your audio journey.

Manskito, I couldnt resist. I am a n00b around here too. And I recently started a thread about speaker wire as well that touched off a fire storm. Guess it pays to use the search bar.
Hopefully one day I will have a pretty "collage" of speaker cables. Then I can talk more intelligently about them.--Gary--

The OP's post illustrates perfectly the problem I have with RR. Newbs get suckered and if they never explore further we end up with xcapri's and cogito's spouting regurgitated nonsense with absolutely no experience. Jeebus.-Kevin

Yes, the RR papers are a good read. Some good info there, some not. I suggest you keep an open mind and at least entertain the thought that he may be wrong in some areas.
Most colleges today tend to be liberal. Keep that mind slant when thinking about wires for audio. They can make a difference IF you listen closely and have an open mind.
