I'm planning to buy a new receiver but have a hard time to choose one mainly becuse of my soundbar42.

Should I go for a 5.1 7.1 7.2 system?

All these audio formats like Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio are they compatible with the soundbar?

thanx for the quick response xcapri79.

I have an old xbox as mediacenter, xbox360 for gameing, dvd player, and satellite HD, samsung 42 plasma and really need the new receiver to be a hdmi hub. My old yamaha receiver is about 20 years old, still going strong but no hdmi support of course.

I'm currently looking into these: (pricetag 500$ in sweden) what do you think about them?
    Yamaha RX-V465B
    Onkyo TX-SR507EB

I have no subbase yet, but probably the next buy after this.

    Some follow up questions.

I found this subbase Polk Audio DSWPRO 400, do the receiver need to have a special subbase connection?

Most new receivers have fancy things like "automagic speaker calibration" can these feature be applied to a soundbar?

So the onkyo is getting warm, my stuff need to be "wifeproof" and is hidden inside a hifi furniture with frosted glass in front, guess I have to drill new ventilation holes. Could used some extra heating right now since its -15 Celisus outside.

    Happy new year
