Pioneer SC-05 for VM30's

Two things:
1. What do you think about buying a used, but excellent condition Pioneer SC-05 for $700.00.
2. Using that AVR to power the VM30 Fronts, VM20 Center and VM10 Surrounds. This AVR should make this series sound good ...right?
Thanks
Juan

My personal quest is to save to world of bad audio, one thread at a time. -
Just woundering what sub your using. You sould be very happy with the Pioneer. Have you had the VMs very long. My VMs are getting better all the time, even after beating on them for over a year with mainly music. Keep us updated on how the O5 works out.Thanks.Rec rm vm30 micro pro 3000 akai 2 channel. ht anthem MTX 5 channel anthem P2 statement anthem 325, 8 channel Martin Logan power amp for 4 ceiling ls900 2 and outdoor polks, 2 JL 110’s subs panasonic 65" plasma lsim 705’s , 706c, L200 and Control 4 garage rig monitor 10s crossovers by VR3, dynamat, RDO-194's, new drivers. psw 111 Pioneer 9040 BDP53fd 100 " screen Nakamichi HD projector, and Panasonic 65” plasma.

Try 500-600, new they were going for 700-800. I would try to lower price just a tad. If not you can get the new SC-25 now in your price range.Shoot the jumper.....................BALLIN.............!!!!!

I'd say go for it. They retailed for $1800 despite selling discounted for $700 but still a great value.

+1 the 05 is certainly worth it at that price and should sound good with that speaker set.

Jimmy, I have had the VM30's for a couple of months now, they are currently being powered by a crappy Sony HTIB receiver. I had the VM10's since March. I am actually looking for a single VM20 to complete the set. I will be using a Csi5 center until I find that VM20. As for the sub I will be using a DSW microPRO 2000 (which I will be borrowing from my Theater room which has the Lsi25 setup). I only use the Theater room on a limited basis --even though it has lots of toys
.
SherardP - you have a FANTASTIC Setup!
Another choice I may have is to go with a B&K AVR-507 instead of the Pioneer SC-05. A guy is selling one on Audiogon (happens to be here in Chicago) but is asking $1095. A little 2 much for my budget but putting that aside WHICH ONE WOULD YOU CHOOSE?
Thanks

I noticed the SC25 at Bestbuy for 999.00. Ice amp with full warrenty would be what I would choose. My Pioneer 1018 just went back. The thing just shut down and would not reset.I'm calling it the 5 song melt down. The place I bought it at gave me loner,so were still rocken.Rec rm vm30 micro pro 3000 akai 2 channel. ht anthem MTX 5 channel anthem P2 statement anthem 325, 8 channel Martin Logan power amp for 4 ceiling ls900 2 and outdoor polks, 2 JL 110’s subs panasonic 65" plasma lsim 705’s , 706c, L200 and Control 4 garage rig monitor 10s crossovers by VR3, dynamat, RDO-194's, new drivers. psw 111 Pioneer 9040 BDP53fd 100 " screen Nakamichi HD projector, and Panasonic 65” plasma.

I managed to nab one for that price but it seems the sale is over and has gone back up.
With that said, the SC-25 is one serious AVR. The sound quality it outputs has drastically changed the way my system sounds. Even with my modest speakers in the main room, it has managed to absolutely floor me. The surround sound performance is superb and as far as two channel it has completely woken up my fronts driving them down to frequencies that I didn't even know they were capable of, effortlessly.
I also love how it will stream music from any of the computers in the house as well as tons of internet streams and Sirius.// Panasonic AE8000 // Pioneer SC-57 // Polk Audio RTi A9 // Polk Audio CSiA6 //

I remember that thread...I did go over to the BB website and did not see that special. I'm wondering if that was just something in your area (region specific)? Now i'm really scratching my head....
Anyway, good pickup mutelight. I am waiting for the gentleman to make up his mind on the B&K 507 offer (should know today), if that doesnt go through i'm going to shop around for a Pioneer SC series. -
There were a few people on AVSForum who managed to get it for that price who were all in different states. Did the Best Buy you went to have a Magnolia? The website never changed price and there we no ads anywhere for the special, just the lower price reflected on the tag under the receiver, on the shelf.// Panasonic AE8000 // Pioneer SC-57 // Polk Audio RTi A9 // Polk Audio CSiA6 //

I just checked the prices on the website...that explains it. Anyway, I have a local person here that is asking $900 for his SC-07. If I can talk him down a little I will probably jump on it. The guy with the B7K AVR 507 S2 has not called to confirm the sale, I think he is having second thoughts on selling it. But it will probably boil down to either of these two receivers.
