Greetings all...

I attempted to sell this amp with the preamp I recently sold, got a lot of bites on the amp, then decided not to sell. Since that time, I've sold the preamp, and went a different direction for amplification, so the amp is back on sale by itself. Here is the info:

I am the second owner of this amp. Here is a cut-and-paste of the info from the original owner I purchased this amp from...I bought it on Audiogon:

I am selling a nearly mint amplifier with barely a scratch. This Soundscraftsmen amp has been periodically cleaned and inspected to ensure all operating per spec callout. The cooling fan is temperature controlled and quiet compared to some noisier samples.Side by side comparison with our Adcom gfa555 showed they are equal in sound quality as well as the identical output of 205 watts per channel into 8 ohm load. The amp is also safe down to 2 ohms providing a stout 450 wpc for any power hungry speaker system. The best Hitachi mosfets were employed also used in the famous Hafler mega ampsof the era.

I would rate the cosmetics of this amp at a 8.5 out of 10. It is hard to see any wear at all on the amp, and it functions perfectly. I used it to power my SDA 1C's and it did a fine job.

PRICE: 200 dollars LOCAL PICKUP PREFERRED. 08043 South Jersey. I will ship this item at owners expense. Once again, George Grand has graciously offered to handle the packaging of this item (You're the man!).

Any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

James

How does this amp do against the Carver 35 you have?
I have not heard the adcon 555 but I did have a 35x.

    Thanks

    Hell all...

    Ernie -
The Carver is as powerful. I feel the Carver opened up the bass a bit more on the speakers, although the Soundcraftsmen did a fine job. I heard from many that Carver's matched well with polks and I'm happy with it. I also love the look of the meters on the amp...very sexy. Overall, I'd say the Soundcraftsmen was about the same in other respects to the Carver. I'm not sure what you are considering pairing them with...I have no fancy IC's, speaker cable, and have a modest Pre-Amp, so any of those things may make it shine even more to your liking.

VC69- I picked up a used Carver at a great price and couldn't pass it up. George is a Carver man, so I had heard the sound many times and liked it.

Let me know if you are interested. I noticed i forgot to upload pics...I have a few that I will upload in a bit.

    Bump...

I know there are a few amps up for sale. This is truly a great bang for your buck amp with TONS of power, and quality name...although maybe an under the radar name. Made in the USA :)

Is this a bad price for the amp? If figured at less than a dollar per watt was a great price. I've seen worse go for more on audiogon, but maybe I'm off?

Well, I can't reply yet as I do not have enough posts (well I will now). Thanks for the offer, but I'm likely not buying one yet due to remodeling. I just didn't have much to do at the moment and so was crossing things off of the list. If it's around in a few weeks, then maybe :)
