My problem is their rated 300 wpc polk says dont go above 250 wpc however i see other people using amps with a lot of power to drive their speakers. Anu suggestions would be appreciated thank you

    remember the LSIs are 4 ohm so if your not using an amp now and your avr isn't up to par be carefull with the volume. a good amp with at least 200wpc should do, but more juice usually = better sound.

    most people on here say the more power you give the LSI's a lot of the time more they sing so if you go over 250 wpc at 4ohm... you'll probably be alright.. you'll probably blow your ears before before you blow the speakers by over powering them.
    Main 2ch -
    BlueSound Node->Ethereal optical cable->Peachtree Audio Nova 150->GoldenEar Triton 2+
    TT - Pro-ject Classic SB with Sumiko Bluepoint.

    TV 3.1 system -
    Denon 3500 -> Dynaudio Excite 32/22

    +1, put 1000W to those LSi's, you will blow out your eardrums before you hurt the speakers. Underpowering your speakers will hurt them more than overpowering them. LOL, having said that, just be careful with the volume knob.

    More speakers are damaged being over driven with too small of a amp. BUT just lost a crossover on a RTiA9 using a ROTEL RB-1090-( 380wpc. ) Haven't figured that one out yet. Under warranty. Need to call Polk in A.M.

    Welcome to Club Polk!

    IF you're using your LSI's with a AV receiver that has preamp outs for the front speakers you may want to look for a vintage stereo power amp to power them. I use a Yamaha P2200 pro power amp in my setup, it specs right up there with home audio amps at a fraction of the cost per watt per channel and shows up regularly on the 'bay. Plus there's no fan to add noise, just big friggin' heatsinks.
    Infinity QLS1, Polk SDA-1A, OLAdvent Econowave, Yamaha RXV-1300, CDC-685, P2200, AB International 9220A, Rane ME15B, Cambridge Audio 640P, Grant Fidelity B-283, Luxman PD277-AT7V, Pioneer PL707-Denon DL-207, DL-160....And projects on the bench!

    In my particular case I have clipping lights ( that were not lit up ) also have peak lights on my SAE 2800 ( wich were not lit up ). My rule of thumb correct or not when the vocals are starting to distort and can't quite understand the words , I back the volume down till the clarity is regained. If some one has a better procedure , I am open for suggestions. Very well stated Mr. tonyb.
