I saw my first Polks in Beijing!
Hi,
Needless to say I've been at a great audio loss this year abroad...listening to my 20 dollar 2.1 Hyundai computer system speakers pumping out WMA lossless, as if that mattered with these, albums I put on my laptop and watching my 20" Haier Tube set with my Dell Latitude as the DVD player.
But, I finally got to one of the very few, at least from what I've seen, Audio Dealers in a rather exclusive mall in the city...called something like High End Audio...their speaker offerings: All Polk series from the TSI to LSis....and GamuT (evidently--Danish speaker maker--models with their concentric ring radiator (a steel tapered cone surrounded by a fabric ring). GamuT amps, Parasounds and Higher End Marantz amps and CDPs as the sources, etc.
It was pretty cool to see all the Polks in the room. Of course they sell for a lot more here than they do in the U.S.
One question I have is that the TSIs here look different...the plastic piano top seems flatter and the veneer looks like it is REAL wood..something like a dark maple, cherry?--nothing like the veneers on the U.S. speakers, but a lot classier.
Do any of our Polk staff know what is going on over here in the Chinese market...because these TSis are very classy? They almost rival the RTi finishes.

Perhaps Polk Audi can confirm this, but I suspect the company "customize" models to local taste.
