It all depends on your room size and configuration. For me 4 fxi a6's worked best as surrounds.

.........what about a5's for the sides and a3's for the rear??????Be good.....and if you can't be good, be great.........and if you can't be great, well,......i'll give you lessons.

that really depends on your room configuration. each speaker has its advantages. consider the space and proper placement needed for the a5s, the versatility with the fxis, the small size and big sound from the a3s, they're all great speakers just depends on what will work best for your roompanasonic th-50pz85u

I'm thinking it will be a 5.1 for now. I am living in an mid/large apartment right now but, am buying a house soon. Don't know what size room this will all go in yet but it should be good sized. The room that is is in right now is about 20by 15 with a 6 by 8 foot opening to another room the same size. I really want the A5's the most but the A3's are more in my price range. I could always get the A3's now for rears and then when I go 7.1 just use them for side's and buy the A5's for rears. What do ya think about that?

That'll work. Get what works now and get the a5's later if needed. -
You may find placing A1s or A3s easier as side/rears than a floorstanders. BTW the way I'm a big fan of the RTi A series speakersSamsung 60" UN60ES6100 LED, Outlaw Audio 976 Pre/Pro Samsung BDP, Amazon Firestick, Phillips CD Changer Canare 14 ga - LCR tweeters inside*; Ctr Ch outside BJC 10 ga: LCR mids “Foamed & Plugged**”, inside* & out

I'm also looking to upgrade the rears in my 5.1. For me, its a choice between the A3's and the FXi. I'm really leaning towards the A3's for their versitility. They are really nice bookshelves and can be used in a lot of applications.Home TheaterRTiA5 - CSiA6 - FXiA6 - PSW650 - Pioneer Elite SC-55 - Carver AV-505 - Sony 46" 120Hz - Monster HP 2400 - Xbox 360 - Playstation 32 ChannelPolk RTA 15TL - Harman Kardon HK3485 - HK DVD48 - Signal Cable IC's and speaker cables

i personally went with the FXI A4 for side surrounds, RTI A1 for rear, front sound stage is RTI A9s and CSi A6, room is 18.5X 28 seating is in the middle,
excellent setup,
i chose the A4 and A1 since their driver matches the A9s.
my sub is the DSW pro 600
