7.1 Wide DSX or Traditional with Backs?

I have a question regarding OWM3 placement. I have a narrow, but wide room (12X24) where I'm placing my new setup. I had concerns regarding the OWM3s as surround backs being too close (3' behind on ceiling pointing down) to the seating area, so I started to consider a 7.1 DSX Wide setup on my Onkyo 807. My question is will the OWM3s sound OK since the 60 degree placement puts them 12' away? They'll be paired with TSi300 fronts and a CS10. The side surrounds are TSi100s. Also, I understand about the sound envelopment, required angles, etc., but how does it work with a typical blueray disk from a PS3? I'm guessing the LPCM feed is raw and the 807 will send the signals to the appropriate speakers. I appreciate any feedback. I'm left with my thoughts since everything is still in boxes while I'm waiting for paint and carpet.
