Yes it is a insignia not a Pioneer not a Panasonic. But none the less I believe that a review is in order for this.

The setup that I used to test or use this player is located below.

For 90 bucks I have to say it is not a bad player. Their was 2 firmware updates within a week of each other both seemed to improve the player. The first was to add the netflix feature "I can not use" the second was to just improve load times.

The first thing I noticed about this unit is how noisy it was. Just to read a disk to get the movie started took about 8 seconds of noise. During playback of BR's the noise seems to settle down and be more relaxed.

The worst noise comes when you want to play a cd. Constant noise and I swear some can be hear threw the speakers but can not prove it.

As I know you get what you pay for I will say. The picture quality is fairly nice, smooth and the brightness coming from the HDMI is not flushed out. I took it over to my neighbors who has a samsung BR player and a sony XBR? tv it is the higher version. We could not tell the difference from my player to his.

the audio from a movie stand point was great. I know that the player plays some point in the audio but it is more the receiver and how it was recorded.

Now this is not going to continue being my main player. It will soon be upgraded with a Pioneer BDP-51FD. Until than this will have to do.

I give it a 2 1/2 out of 5 only because of the noise.
