So I have this pair of 2.3's sitting there ready for bi-wire. Can I bi-amp these and how do I do it? I have an Onkyo M508 that pushes 220 per channel and a McIntosh 2205 that pushes 205 per. I will use the Onkyo pre P308. Do I use some type of splitter coming out of the pre? Someone told me I need some kind of elaborate external crossover. Can you give me some hints cause I'm clueless. Thanks.

And I did read through using the search quickly while at work but still confusing. Is all I need to do is run some kind of splitter out of the pre to the 2 amps?

If your pre does not have 2 sets of "outs", then yes,,I've tried this before with a pair of adcom 535's,, one amp to the lows, one to the highs,,try it and see how you like it,,be sure to remove the jumpers from the speakers,,I eventually gave it up and settled for a pair of mid sized mono's,good luck,,let us know your impressions.

I will have to look. I think it may have 2 sets of outs but I thought 1 was fixed and the other variable. If not, the "Y" splitter is the way to go? And put the beefier amp to the lows?

Yes to the Y if the "outs" as you describe, and if not using the same amps, then I would try the beefier one on the lows.A question,, have you tried replacing the stock jumpers with good wire? I ask, because I have done what you are planning,, and in the end,,I went with either monos,,or in the case of my SDA's,a 40 watt tubed amp.I think I know where you are coming from,,so have fun,,as sometimes you just have/want to experience things firsthand.Have fun.:)

I do have an old Scott 299 integrated tube amp but it pushes 20 per which I don't think is enough to drive the SDA's. I have it connected to a pair of Klipschorns right now and it mates up very well. I'm hoping the 400+ watts to each speaker will be enough. And yes, stock jumpers on the SDA's. And yes, I was looking at some of the old Carver stuff to run mono to each channel. Like the TFM 45 or 55. But it's tough to find a pair let alone the pair to spend the money to buy 2!
