think I jumped the gun on this one. I just bought a pair of 2.5 meter mit terminator 3 speaker cables. they got here 2 days ago and I was just about to hook em up untill I read a recent thread on how mit cables need to be series matched for best performance. checked mit website and that is what they suggest as well. I'm currently running mit avt3 ics. So.. should I sell the t3s and get avt speaker cable or try to find t3 ics and sell the avt ics? just wanted to get some input before I put them in the fm. if I do sell them I'd be looking to get 125$ for the pair(which is what I paid for them) not looking to profit off a fellow polkie. heres a pic and thanks ahead

Those are old T3's.............I say try them out and see how they mate with the AVT's or ask Gavin about the differences............he knows his stuff as far as what the strengths/weakness of each line is.
AVT and Terminator are positioned about the same in the overall line. I hope you didn't pay too much for those T3's as I stated those are probably 1st generation close to 10+ years old; if I had to guess.

Why are we looking to reduce a subjective experience to objective criteria anyway? The subtleties of music and audio reproduction are for those who appreciate it. I'm sure that's what they suggest as that is where they can make money. I'm sure every cable manufacturer recommends you use only their cables and match them as well. I'm also sure that if you call up and electronics manufacturer and ask, they would suggest you match their amp to their preamp, and speakers if they make them...
I'm sure having a matched set of MIT cables would sound good, but there is no reason that not having them match would sound bad. I bet if I were to swap a pair of Magnum ICs into a matched Shotgun system, it might sound better and they would no longer match.
MY bottom line is buy the best you can afford if that interests you, and definitely buy what sounds the best to you. If that is a matched set, great. If not, that wouldn't surprise me as I'm sure most people on here don't have all their types of cables matched by series or even brand. Do what works and sounds best for you. -
Some MIT's can be mixed, some can't. AVt's and Shotgun series sound like crap together."He who fights with monsters should look to it that he himself does not become a monster. And when you gaze long into an abyss the abyss also gazes into you." Friedrich Nietzsche
