The very end when he pops the trunk and the guys are like "Nah, dude, it's coming out from up here too." Then he pops the hood and the smoke is coming out like the clutch is actually on fire. In the background you hear a guy seconds from bawling his eyes out saying "F&@#!!!"

Then again, the genius was "roasting off the back of the tires..." whatever that means.

Then he gets in and says "Bye bye $600!"

    You got that right!

By the way, a new clutch kit for a 2007 Corvette Z06 from rockauto.com...$483.79

Autozone wants $419.99 but it's special order and comes with an unspecified core charge. I wouldn't doubt if it's over $500 total.

Thing too is burning rubber smells so good ( Well to a quarter mile junkie anyways ) and burning clutch smells so bad...both so completely different . I mean was it all of their first rodeo when it came to a burnout ?

Yeah clutches are cheap, but from the looks of that crowd he is paying someone else big bucks for labor...I bet they have a hard time changing sim cards in a phone.

Maybe in a Honduh Cibbic clutches are cheap. $400-$500 for a clutch isn't really cheap in my book. Not when the clutch in my Ranger cost $98. Now that's cheap! I did a clutch in an old 89 Cibbic and it cost $79 for the clutch kit.

To a vette owner 400-500 is chump change...till he has to pay the labor part of the bill.....just meant cheap relatively speaking. He deserves every penny gone.

And that's nothing, labor is the killer. If it's anything like the C5, the clutch is in the rear, and the entire transaxle/torque tube has to come out. You're talking a $1500 job when all said and done.

seriously only $1500? my 1971 MGB cost more than that to replace the clutch. (engine has to come out)

either way.. I wish it would have blown up instead... now that would have been funny to see a huge cloud of smoke fill the cab of the car and the guy comes out coughing and hacking up a lung.. now that's entertainment I like.

$400 to $500 for a clutch that will stand up to that power is pretty cheap...

I would have assumed that a Corvette Z06 clutch would be more than a Civic's, but then again i don't really know everything, and i spent $469 on the last clutch for my MX6.

On the C6, the trans is in the rear directly attached to the rear end, right?

I would have assumed that a Corvette Z06 clutch would be more than a Civic's, but then again i don't really know everything, and i spent $469 on the last clutch for my MX6.

    Really?

    Says who?

I can get a Centerforce dual-friction clutch that can handle the 505 hoses rated in a 2007 Corvette Z06 for $280 shipped to my door. I can get that clutch for many different manual transmissions. That's an aftermarket clutch too. They usually handle upwards of 600 horses but not much more than that. One to fit a Corvette? About $400 even. RAM Clutch kits are about the same in price and HAYS clutches are even cheaper still. Any one of them will stand up to that power all day long. Believe me, I know, I've run that much power and then some through clutches from all those manufacturers.

Again, aftermarket clutches. Still cheaper than a Corvette's clutch and rated to handle more power than that. A brand new clutch for a 2007 Mustang Shelby GT500 is from RAM and costs about $280. It makes just as much power and torque as the Corvette.

What will $500 for a clutch from RAM get you? Well, if you find a special, you can actually get a dual clutch system rated for over 1500 horses for a smidge more than $500. They normally go for close to $800 but Summit usually has good deals for 20% off plus free shipping.

Will those clutches FEEL like a stock clutch in the Corvette? No, they won't. I'm familiar with the Centerforce clutches, i've run them in a few turbo hondas. (lol torque is what?)

My apologies. I didn't realise that we were taking the performance aftermarket items into consideration here, since you were just talking about rock auto and autozone before. But now that we've switched gears (tee hee hee) and are talking about the performance corner of the market:

    Carry on.
