I just got my RTI A9s a few days ago and already love them...right now im running them with a Sansui G-7500 for 2 ch music and Pioneer VSX01-TXH for 7.1 HT.

Question with the Sansui for 2ch music: any benefit of i Bi amp the speakers by connecting the highs to Speaker A and the lows to Speaker B? Is that not a true Bi amp? Or should I Bi-wire??

Thanks for your help

How much power does your current amp deliver?

I, as well as many others here run my RTi A9's on an Emo XPA-3 delivering 200wpc. I have done nothing except run single wires to the speakers and they sound fantastic.

Forget all about this...^^^^^^Bi amping involves active crossovers and multi amps ..you have neither. You could bi-wire but really I see no gain with what you have. Make a better jumper out of better cable instead of the brass plate Polk used that may get you a touch better sound or just make you feel better, but many here do make a better jumper. If you use banana's use spades for jumper if you use spades make jumpers with banana plugs...

I can't think of "any" vintage Sansui that can properly handle power to a set of Polk A9s. You REALLY need a power amp. Preferably one that can supply a "minimum" of 250 watts x 2 @ 8 ohms and preferably 350 watts x 2 or more @ 8 ohms. Those Rti-A9s need a LOT of power to shine!

Your G-7500 is not even in the ballpark at 90 watts x 2 @ 8 ohms.

The polkie running 350/wpc noticed improvement gains as he stepped up with each more powerful amplifier.

Two of us have jumped to > 700 wpc & are pleased with the results. Unsure of why Polk rated the a9s' power handling so conservatively (500 wpc). I usually run mine @ <90dB in an 11'X19' room. But have been known to raise the dB to fill the house with music.

    As for a reference point:

Your VSX01-TXH appears to have Pioneer's new "type of Class D amplifier powerful enough for professional use. The result was the Direct Energy HD amplifier"

    VSX01-TXH: 110 Watts x 7 (20Hz - 20kHz, 8 ohms)

I previously used my Pioneer Elite SC07's B&O ICE amps to drive my RTiA9s with 140 wpc. They sounded fatiguing, so I scaled back the highest frequencies. When listening to hours of 2 Channel music, they still were fatiguing. Using the front preouts to a Class EEE "amplifier powerful enough for professional use," erased that fatigue (a cause of weariness; slow ordeal; exertion: the fatigue of listening to underpowered RTiA9s for many hours).

You guys do realize the OP asked this question in 2009, right?
