I found a pair for sale and was wondering what the going rate should be, I know the SDAs are well regarded, but I also know that I am a sucker, and I don't want to get hosed, they are in excellent condition, I know I need to do the "radiator test", and I checked the polksda site, and the range was 150-270 but that hasn't been updated for 5 years, so I would appreciate a ballpark figure from the experts here...

I say 150 to 350 is fair depending on condition of course.

I paid $225 for some "Studio" version SDA-2B's in mint condition and that is a great deal in my book.

    Which 2's??

2B's are worth more than original 2's or 2A's.

yeah, not sure which version, hope the pics help. I am considering these and/or some 1-B's, but I read somewhere in CP that the 1-B's need 200wpc to "hit their stride" and my biggest amp so far is the adcom 535 II which is only 60... so all advice is appreciated.

It's very hard to tell by the pics what condition they are in.......they look rough and if the grills are actually a chocolate brown that's not original. They look like 2A's.........if they're rough perhaps $100-125. If they are in good cond. perhaps $150-200. I see they have the interconnect cord. Do you know if it's blade/blade or pin/blade?

The 535 will drive them fairly well.
Please. Please contact me a ben62670 @ yahoo.com. Make sure to include who you are, and you are from Polk so I don't delete your email. Also I am now physically unable to work on any projects. well, I got them both >.< and my wife is probably going to kill me. But I just HAD to get my ears on these speakers I've read so much about. Here's the pics (or it didn't happen) 1As, 2s, and my new Maggies to boot. if you look you can see the other Maggies in the back of the 1As. I'm getting quite a collection of quality gear, but I thing I may have to start unloading stuff before I run out of room, or my wife runs out of patience.

In reality, I think I will probably sell both the SDAs, because I just don't have the power or the room for them, and I don't get a bigger AV room until my son moves out (3 more years:o ) When I listened at the original owner's home, he had them on a 200wpc Carver, and they sounded so good I was blown away, but my little Adcom can't seem to reproduce it, and I'm sure my tiny 10x11 room isn't helping matters much.
I *think* I got a great deal on them, and I couldn't pass them up, but in retrospect, I probably shouldn't have gotten them. I was planning to offer them to polkies first anyway if I do sell them, so I'll consider you as "having dibs" when the time comes. But I want to play with them first, maybe bridge a couple amps and see if that helps, but I'm pretty sure my crappy room is not going to let them be all they can be.

If you're talking about bridging the amps for the Maggies, fine. DO NOT run the SDAs with bridged amps unless you DISCONNECT THE INTERCONNECT CABLE BETWEEN THE SPEAKERS. Failing to disconnect the speaker interconnect cable when using bridged amps may result in damaged amp(s); damaged speakers; or both. Some of the later SDAs (those with pin/blade interconnect cable) can be used with bridged amps; but only if you have the special (AI-1???) interconnect cable or an equivalent.

Sorry SDA's in an 11x10 room they won't work properly with any amp.

I appreciate the advice, I did not *know* that, but was planning to inquire before I did it, since I know that common ground amps are needed, and I *thought* that bridging would negate the common ground. I am still fairly new at this stuff, but you guys teach me something daily.
    I don't understand the hurting **** though...

Another tidbit about bridged amps. They do not like to see less than an 8 ohm nominal load. Most SDA's are 6 ohm nominal and some are 4 ohm, so using bridged amps even with the AI-1 is not advised. Of course in your case, the AI-1 option is a mute point as neither of your models will accept it.
