Alright guy/gals,

some of you saw that I finished acid-staining and sealing my office floor, so now all the stuff is going back in there. My desk takes up the entire wall - all 10 ft of it with my pcs on it and what not. I'm going for a simple 2.0 or 2.1 setup more than likely near-field but I might use it just to play music. Yeah I know the last thing I need is another set up but .... addictions need to be fed. Previously I had a Yamaha M-35 amplifier feeding two JBL Control-1 clones and it was OKAY...better than computer speakers.

Now I have a tad bit more equipment to play with. I have the Nakamichi AV-2 receiver that has more than enough power, the Yamaha M35... (The M45 fried :( ). I also have an Onkyo DS575 receiver and a MX-1000u Yamaha amp (overkill).

For speakers I have these choices:
Paradigm Atom Mk1
Polk RT25
Klipsch RB-25 (trading my Magnepan MMGWs for them)
Polk RT-8 (prolly not enough room for floorstanders)
Insignia NS-2111 speakers
Sony SS-MB300 (probably not)
and of course... my prized possession-
Boston Acoustics VR-M60 video monitors.

I'll find an outboard DAC sometime, if I do it will strictly be 2.0. Otherwise I have a nice M&K 8" sub for this setup.

Thanks for your suggestions guys/gals. I guess honestly I can just try them all, but I like to hear other people's thoughts too.

I don't get a thrill out of any of those choices....just pick one.
CTC BBQ Amplifier, Sonic Frontiers Line3 Pre-Amplifier and Wadia 581 SACD player. Speakers? Always changing but for now, Mission Argonauts I picked up for $50 bucks, mint.

I can't imagine the Paradigms or the Klipschs sounding that great really close to your ears.

    They are computer speakers....

I guess I can just rig up 2 Quintets from the set I have sitting around.

Why not get some powered monitors? There are many great HIFI companies that make powered versions of their passive speakers that would work great for PC.

I currently have the Swan M200 and couldn't recommend them enough for the price, but other great choices would be: Quad, Focal, Dynaudio, Paradigm.
