Well, it's been discussed already but HOW 'BOUT 'DEM COWBOYS!

I'm still in awe that they beat the Saints. I didn't get to actually see the game. I just listened to the game on the Intarweb over the live feed on a local Dallas radio station website. That and Game Day on NFL.com. I really wish I could have seen it. The announcer was very excited several times and analysis from many of the media writers was favorable. That and with the Green Bay loss, Dallas is still in the hunt for the Wild Card game in the playoffs right now. Although I'm finding it difficult to figure out how the Eagles could "clinch" a playoff berth with 2 games left to play and two teams hot on their heels. One of those teams being the Cowboys who could really dump on the Eagles season if Philly screws up next week. Dallas plays Washington and Philly in the next two weeks. If they can beat Washington and Philly loses to the Broncos (decent possibility there), then, like the last couple years, the NFC East conference will be decided by that last game. But if both Dallas and Philly win their next games, they go in to the last game with a clear possibility that they could tie the for the division lead. If the loss to the Broncos happens though, Philly could be booted out of the picture completely if Green Bay wins their next two outings and Dallas beats Washington and Philly. But hey, what do I know? Using all that "math" stuff. Here's hoping the NFC east will be a nail biter finish!

There are more than just rumors now that Shanahan wants Wade Phillips' job. I really have no comment on that. I think that if anyone Jerry should be wooing Cowher. He's a big D and punishing running game guy and that is what Dallas already has. So, we'll see. If anybody has deep enough pockets to coax Cowher out from behind that desk, Jerry does.

I saw some of the Jets game and Sanchez, I really hope he doesn't let this bother him. I know people think differently but the kid had a great showing this year and got some hard lessons learned. He needs to get healthy and come back ready to work next year and I think the Jets are going to be playoff contenders.

I saw a smidge of the Bills game as well and the Pats looked very sloppy against a struggling team. I also hope the Bills can turn things around up there. They have a good deal of young talent but they just seem aimless.

Saw the Cardinals eek one out against the Lions. I don't know which team that speaks to more. The Cardinals and their suckitude yesterday (very sloppy, undisciplined play) or the Lions who seemed much more composed and together. The Lions keep putting up numbers against some stout teams though and I really think that they are going to be a team to watch. Stafford has really stepped up as both a team and an inspirational leader. That kid is going somewhere in this league. Here's hoping he drags the Lions with him!

The Rams had a heartbreaker of a loss. I think they should have won that. From the stats and what little I saw, they outplayed the Texans. Again, another young team full of talent that seems to be aimless.

The highlights from the Browns v. Chiefs game was insane. I didn't get to see anything but the highlights but sometimes I really wish that they would show the Suck Bowls because they always end up being killer games. Both crap teams go in to the game thinking the other team is worse and to turn up the wick to get the win. Then you get a 41-34 game on a Sunday afternoon with two total turnovers and 915+ yards gained between two teams that nobody saw. That gets no air time while a borefest like the Jets and Falcons in another meaningless game gets a full broadcast. UGH. Stupid NFL.

And lastly, a-ha. Hahahahahaha...WAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!! What a game! WHAT A GAME!

*sigh*

So how'd your team do?

Yeah baby, the Eagles have secured a playoff spot regardless of what happens in the next two weeks. Odds are that they will be the NFC East champs when it's all said & done. The Cowboys will fold as usual.

As a Saints fan who loathes Dallas, it was a bitter pill to swallow. That said, the Cowboys came to play and play they did. We got beat. The Cowboy's D shut us down and Romo had a stellar performance. All I can say is that I hope it's the wake up call we needed. We have squeeked out of several games with pure luck and determination. If we intend to make the trip to Miami, we are going to have to rely on our skill as a football team and not the failings of our opponents. There are some good games ahead and I'm very excited about the prospect of a superbowl victory, but there is work to be done. It's going to be a tough playoff. The Colts may lose in the playoffs, but they may not. I have a feeling we will meet them in the superbowl if all goes well. Maybe the Chargers. I dunno, either way... GEAUX SAINTS!

As a consolation prize, the Browns won two in a row! Amazing! That back had a 200 yard game. Why can't those guys all play football every game?

Another prize was watching Favre and the Vikes struggle. I wonder if they are fading? No disrespect to Carolina, they played really good ball and their D was on fire.

It was a 286 yard game. Bit of a difference and kinda selling the guy short to call it a mere 200 yard game. Last I remember watching a single back gain that much in a single game, I was watching Emmitt Smith.

You are correct. I had no idea. I remember hearing it was 200+ at some point yesterday. That is amazing regardless of the team being played. Where has he been all season? I can't even remember the guys name...

ok.... My guys (Vikings)SUCKED again last night! When they are on their game, they can play with the very best, but when they struggle they stink. I cannot point a finger at one guy even, as the entire squad on both sides of the ball and to a man all sucked equally.

Ya know, I haven't really thought about it much, but we're seeing some great QB play in the league this year. There are really only a handful of teams that are bad at quarterback - everyone else is either good or great at that position. Think about it, how many teams are actually bad at that position?

I'm not happy this week, my Bucs won. Hopefully the Rams win a couple so we can pick up that Ndamukong Suh 1st in the draft.

I know it was against the Redskins, but the Giants sure looked good last night. Now all I gotta do is hope for the Cowboys or Packers to slip up and the giants have a chance to sneak into the playoffs, oh and they still have to beat Carolina and Minesota - one of which is probably a much better team and the other always plays the giants very well.

Unless the Cowboys collapse it looks like the NFC playoff picture is pretty much set, the AFC is a different story.

I think the Giants will struggle with Carolina. Seems everybody is lately. They have a pretty good defense. The offense just takes a week off every other week. I think that if the Giants play like they did last night though, they will cream the Vikings and beat the Panthers.

But I expect Washington to play just to screw up Dallas' season now. It's gonna be a slobber-knocker next week against the 'Skins and it's a huge rivalry. Everybody should be watching that game, it's setting up to be a very good one.

    Cowboys finally cut Folk.

    http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/football/nfl/12/21/cowboys.suisham.ap/index.html

But they sign Suisham who was cut for missing kicks on the Redskins. He's just under a career 80% accuracy which isn't bad but he's been cut twice for poor performance. Hopefully he can band-aid the rest of the season and they can find a new kicker in the off-season.

LoL! Perhaps Todd Rundgren's long lost brother?

I hope Mike Holmgren can find some magic, though I kinda fail to see what his role in a turnaround might be. Far be it from me to judge, I really don't understand the inner workings of ball clubs. But I am hopeful. I would just like to see the Browns have a good strong season and make the playoffs. I thought we were there a couple of years ago, but alas, it was not meant to be.

I'm afraid Dallas might have made a lateral move with the kicker, though I think they had to do something. Folk was just falling apart. Sad really, it seems he just couldn't pull out his slump. I have a feeling he'll be back playing for somebody and do well.

I'd be more angry at the Fins, but no Ronnie Brown= no playoffs. I'm impressed they're .500 without him to be honest. Henne looks like I had hoped/expected. He needs a true stretch the field deep threat (and a few other receivers...) and he could grow into a good QB. As for this year? I think our goose is cooked.

Super Bowl prediction (out of the hat): Colts 37, Vikings 21.

I just hope he doesn't pull Mangini. I think the guy has been doing well and he's only got one season under the belt. He's turning things around there. They played very well on Sunday and they have been making progress. They have a bad record but nobody has really called them "the worst team in football" this season. It's been bantered around but "worst" still seems reserved for teams like the Raiders and Chiefs.

Well, I remember when Elliot was having a slump for the Cowboys in the early 90's. He walked back, said he was in a funk and Jimmy Johnson cut him the next day and brought in a new kicker. 4 for 11 was too long to hold a kicker who was in a slump. They are critical scorers and Wade should have dumped him in mid-November. A six game streak of missed critical points is unacceptable. He was only 2.5 years in to his career and only missed like 10 times before this slump. Dunno what happened but he'll be back. Kickers have careers that can span multiple decades. He'll get it figured out and get picked up by another team. For now though Dallas can't wait around for him to get it figured out. Not in week 15 and being only one game out of a playoff berth.
