Subwoofer hookup?

I feel like an idiot asking this, but I can't remember how I once had this hooked up. I am going back to separates and using some old components. Namely an Onkyo Integra poweramp, Onkyo preamp and Sony DD processor. I have everything hooked up, although the preamp is acting funny for some reason.
The pre doesn't have a sub out put. The processor has an out labeled "woofer", not subwoofer. I am pretty sure I used a pig tail connector to the sub last time I had this hooked up. But can't remember. Do I hook the sub up to the processor? For some reason I was thinking I had it coming from the preamp before.
